After snapping this photo, I talked to the FDNY fireman who was hosing down the sidewalk out front of the station, Engine 218 at 650 Hart Street. He was an Irish fellow who lives on Long Island, but he was quick to tell me that his parents lived in Bushwick before he was born. I think he's the only Irish person I've ever seen in the neighborhood.
