Due to an earlier post, I felt compelled to document the actual "Darth Vader Building" while recently in Seattle... this is a picture form atop the Space Needle...

 at the right side of this pic is where the bodies of the victims of the triangle shirtwaist factory were piled up on each other.
at this spot the police and onlookers watched in horror as the young women jumped to their deaths across the street.
i can't believe i'm standing in this place of disaster and now 95 years later there is joviality, food, drink and people laughing and moving about and it seems that i'm the only one thinking about the fire, or am i.
children, 5 generations later are playing in the cool evening of the...

A makeshift shrine set up outside of the bodega at Lincoln Pl. and Washington Ave in Prospect Heights.
While out for a walk in the neighborhood last night, I heard the two guys who are always lamping on the corner of St. John's and Washington talking about a homey that got stabbed there Friday night.

garibaldi, what he is doing in washington square park i'll never know. but behind his statue, under the building canopy, at left, is the very same building that the triangle shirtwaist factory fire occured in. the women, mostly irish and italian immigrants, locked up in a factory room near their sewing machines, jumped out of the ninth floor window to the corner pavement below. NYU occupies the buildings now.
