Newtown Creek: Oily Sunset

Though it seems so postcard-ish, this sunset is enlivened by the fact that its take from above one of the nation's dirtiest waterways, Newtown Creek, the site of the nation's largest oil spill. The 1954 Exxon spill has left 9 million (of an original 17 million) gallons, undulating beneath the neighborhood of Greenpoint.

Sunset Park

A trip to Sunset Park. We get off the subway and head down to the waterfront... More can be seen here, but for now let's head up to Fifth Avenue... Walking uphill, looking back, off in the harbor... Here we are at Fifth... Down the street and up into the Park... This sign's warning, unfortunately, was not heeded. In fact, one child was mercilessly beating the fence with a baseball bat. But anyway... Sunset Park at sunset... Back down the street, time to head home... Back past Fifth Avenue... Just a few more interesting sights along the way... Goodnight, Sunset Park.

Here's a sunset in Kreuzberg, Berlin...on the left there's a main road and the high-rise rail subway...I love this road, because it's surrounded by three busy roads and no one drives on it. All the roads are so busy so that there is no advantage in taking this road...it leads right by a church and has an old single brick road style....it's just nice.... This is right in front of the train station which you can see pretty much in the middle of the picture above.... I like the building being build on the left side of this one, with the glas...
