kinda old and rough hewn tree in the park, can you spot the resident, if trees could talk what stories they could tell and this tree in particular has weathered many storms and going ons in that park.

at the right side of this pic is where the bodies of the victims of the triangle shirtwaist factory were piled up on each other.
at this spot the police and onlookers watched in horror as the young women jumped to their deaths across the street.
i can't believe i'm standing in this place of disaster and now 95 years later there is joviality, food, drink and people laughing and moving about and it seems that i'm the only one thinking about the fire, or am i.

Milliken Park, located at McCowan and Steeles in north Scarborough, hosts a large annual kite festival and most weekends also is filled with folks flying kites.
Unfortunately this seemingly peaceful activity is wreaking havoc on the parkland's ecosystem. There are literally MILES OF KITE STRING ALL OVER THE PARK. There are KITES IN TREES. There are even BIRDS NESTS MADE OF STRING.
There is a bylaw that saws people must clean up their kite string. It is being ignored. This is very hazardous to the birds, squirrels and rabbits that inhabit Milliken Park. My family cleaned up what we could while...

I have moved from St. Louis to San Francisco for school. I love this city so far, though I miss St. Louis. I took a few pictures on a perfect weekend in the nearby Dolores Park. Upon walking up the hill and turning around, I was greeted by a view of downtown San Francisco.

The Battery Park Development web link is located on the northshore of Cleveland's nearwest side in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood which is very up and coming as they say. The site is currently under development and I had the chance to sneak in to the powerhouse and snap a few shots before renovation begins.
A nice shot of the exterior
These next few are just a few more details of the interior.
From what I understand this will house a community center, gourmet restaurant and a deli of sorts for those in the neighborhood. Also check out web link for more...

It was a cold saturday afternoon and the park was empty. Perfect for roller skating.
In hot weekend afternoons the traffic is intense. Bikers, skaters, people walking their dogs, ...
P.S. : By cold I mean around 8°C .
Bench shots. I heard something about Peter loving benches.

 A trip to Sunset Park.
We get off the subway and head down to the waterfront...
More can be seen here, but for now let's head up to Fifth Avenue...
Walking uphill, looking back, off in the harbor...
Here we are at Fifth...
Down the street and up into the Park...
This sign's warning, unfortunately, was not heeded. In fact, one child was mercilessly beating the fence with a baseball bat.
But anyway...
Sunset Park at sunset...
Back down the street, time to head home...
Back past Fifth Avenue...
Just a few more interesting sights along the way...
Goodnight, Sunset Park.

I took my camera around the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood of St. Louis during their house tour several weeks ago. Forest Park Southeast is located directly south of Central West End and wraps around the southeast corner of Forest Park (as one might expect given the name).
