Please Don't Dump
[previous] :: [next]Running directly through Fredericton is the famous St. John River. The problem with the river is the fact that it has a reputation of being so polluted nobody in their right mind would dare swim in it. It serves more as a pretty backdrop to downtown and to divide Southside residents from Northside residents. This piece of thoughtful graffiti helped give some insight as to why is might be so badly polluted.
Being a bilingual province, even out graffiti must be in both official languages. This pops up elsewhere in the city although few others have the writing, just the blue fish-like creature. no dumping in calgary either thanks to the bow river. i love how it's in both french and english there though. EvilGentleman: 31st Jul 2006 - 14:33 GMTI should paint this in a toilet. That would confuse a few people... Chris Erb: 1st Aug 2006 - 00:12 GMTThere does seem to be some hypocracy here. The fish on the English drain was painted right over the drain holes. I imagine this was done with spraypaint which means that some paint went into the water and therefore into the river. I can't imagine spraypaint being very good for the river water. jeeff: 1st Aug 2006 - 07:27 GMTthat's a ridiculous argument. whether the graffiti has any effect on people and their polluting habits is debatable, but how can a tiny amount of spraypaint compare to the huge amount of noxious chemicals, human waste, garbage, etc. that we dump in our waterways every day? i understand that it's good to think these things through, but that involves thinking logically rather than slavishly kowtowing to greenie political correctness.
