U.S. Congressman Foley
[previous] :: [next]Ed's note: This is off-topic. If enough of you want it removed, we will delete the article.
In case you haven't heard by now: blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2006/09/exclusive_the_s.html Then there's this, from www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/10/02/foley.quits/index.html "An attorney for Foley, a Florida Republican, confirmed Monday that the former congressman is in an alcoholism treatment center. The fax was apparently sent from Clearwater, Florida, but Roth would not say if that's where Foley is being treated." So, apparently Foley has gone to a detox center in Clearwater, Fl. What's in Clearwater? Scientologists! So, I followed my intuition and did a little Googling, thinking perhaps Foley is drying out with the Sea Org there... This is what I uncovered: "FLORIDA CONGRESSMAN ACCEPTS SCIENTOLOGY AWARD Also present at this event was "Republican State committee woman" Nancy Riley. Foley is featured on a Scientology web page promoting their anti-psychiatry front group C.C.H.R. ("Citizen's Comission on Human Rights"). The "Clearwater Business Association" (C.B.A.) appears to be primarily a way to bring politicians into the Scientology fold, by way of Scientologist Brett Miller (second from left in photo below). The primary affiliations of the C.BA.appear to be Scientology, W.I.S.E., and C.C.H.R., and not local businesses." www.fso.org/en_US/news-events/pg005.html WTF. Hold me, I'm scared. Update: The St. Petersburg Times found out about this first. St. Pete = Scientologists. St. Pete Times are in the pocket of the Scientologists? I'm not one to say for sure.... "A Note From the Editors There still seems to be some confusion about the order of events related to our coverage of Rep. Mark Foley and his email exchanges with teenagers he met through the congressional page program. Let me try to clear this up." This article has been viewed 10654 times in the last 2 years Peter: 3rd Oct 2006 - 02:09 GMTso now we have proof that there are scientologists in the highest eschelon of the u.s. government... creepy indeed. from the linkage:
wtf indeed! Editor:: 3rd Oct 2006 - 04:32 GMTwww.wonkette.com/politics/scientology/battlefield-foley-204681.php LC: 3rd Oct 2006 - 04:37 GMTInterestingly, Clearwater is also where a DC9 aircraft, N900SA, departed from several days before being caught in Mexico with 5.5 tons of cocaine on board. The U.S. company that had owned the aircraft, SkyWay Communications, was run by a fraudster, Brent Kovar, who had ties to several Republicans, including Senator Mel Martinez. It's highly unlikely there's any connection between this and that, I just thought I'd share because I'm bored and I've been researching the connections to that aircraft for quite some time. Editor:: 3rd Oct 2006 - 15:44 GMTdrumsnwhistles.com/politics/2006/10/will-foley-turn-to-scientology/ Editor:: 3rd Oct 2006 - 15:50 GMTocmb.xenu.net/ocmb/viewtopic.php?t=20957&sid=fd292836ba870b8044bbd1c4e6d64c4b sine: 3rd Oct 2006 - 15:59 GMTFoley appears right here on the front page of the Flag Service Organization website!! quick before it's gone: sine: 4th Oct 2006 - 04:32 GMTUpdate: I just watched the ABCNews report on Nightline about the Foley 'incident'. Earlier I had reported Mark Foley's connection with Scientology after he entered rehab in Clearwater, FL (Refer to above article). Segment one involved reportage on futher instant messenger conversations held between Foley and the teenage page, wherein Foley mentioned having an orgasm before going to vote in Congress. Then the segment continued to Foley's lawyer explaining that Mark Foley had been molested by a Catholic priest during his adolescence. Since I had sent a tip to ABCNews concerning Foley's association with Scientology approximately 24 hours ago, I assumed they might make mention of the fact in segment two. Much to my dismay, Nightline followed up with rebuttals from GOP members of Congress, who basically passed the buck up to House Speaker Dennis Hastert. And we know where the story goes from there...Hastert in a typical Watergatesque denial. So why didn't ABC report on the link to Scientology? Perhaps because they are influenced by another huge Central Florida corporation, Disney? And what does this all have to do with resignations at two of the three media outlets that sat on this story; the Miami Herald, and the St. Petersburg Times. That only leaves Fox News and we know who owns them........ Resignations in Congress, and at two major media outlets that suppressed the story. What next? Only time will tell... sine: 4th Oct 2006 - 04:55 GMTUpdate II: Electric Boogaloo this right now from www.cnn.com "Roth would not release details of Foley's alleged molestation, saying only that making it public "is part of Mark's recovery" and that Foley would discuss it further when he is released from a center where he's being treated for alcoholism and mental issues. It will be at least 30 days before he is discharged, Roth said. Roth added that "Mark Foley wants you to know he is a gay man." Though the attorney would not provide the religious affiliation of the clergyman who allegedly molested Foley, Foley lists his religion as Catholic, according to a congressional directory. "He continues to offer no excuse whatsoever for his conduct," said Roth, who spoke to Foley on Tuesday. "This was a life decision, not a tactical one made by others." Asked why Foley waited to divulge the alleged molestation, Roth replied, "Shame." Roth's announcement came shortly after ABC News published correspondences it said indicated Foley had Internet sex with a former page before going to a vote on the House floor in 2003. The network published a partial transcript of the instant messages on its Web site but did not quote the exchanges in which it said the congressman and the high school student apparently had orgasms. " Besides being ICKY ICKY POO, perhaps media outlets are starting to pick up on the SCIENTOLOGY connection, but are still afraid to say the "S" word. The backlash begins... GGP: 4th Oct 2006 - 16:34 GMTwith all due respect, what's the link between this posting and the mission of citynoise? sine: 5th Oct 2006 - 10:34 GMTI just had to put it somewhere. Would it help if I put some pictures of DC in the original article? Sorry about going off-topic, I will really try in the future not to do this again. But I did make a new logo for CN! Can we call it even? We haven't lost it....we are just observing other people losing it. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 5th Oct 2006 - 15:13 GMTI found this thread very educational. Often postings turn political, so maybe it's not bad that some start that way. EvilGentleman: 5th Oct 2006 - 16:08 GMTWell, I think we also have to keep in mind that you and Peter do pay a signifigant amount of the money to keep this site online, and you guys devote massive amounts of blood, sweat and tears to keep this site running. For this I am eternally grateful, so I suppose we should all take a step back and allow our beloved founders a little space to maneuver. Sorry about my earlier remark. I wish I could blame that one on the imposter, but unfortunately, that was really me. Graf logo... cool! Thanks. jack: 5th Oct 2006 - 16:34 GMT[Ed: this comment was posted as a separate article. i removed the article and appended the comment here. please try to keep your comments confined to the relevant article.] no photos, sorry folks. i read the talk about political view points and the witchhunt starting. lets all calm down, i thought this was a site to post interesting photos of the cities around our great country. the politics between republicans and democrats has been going on for some time and i remember it as barroom jokes and needleing each other. but in these so called modern times i see that each party really hates each other. hatred is an ugly thing. people who are democrat or republican hate each other to a point that they would like to see each other irradicated from the face of the earth. how can there be peace in the world if we in this country can hate each other due to their political standings. remember, there is good and bad in all places. in another country a political party with so much hate would kill all their opponents. in another country a religious party would kill all non-beleivers. calm down! i think i have to write a peice about life in 1948 in brooklyn, new york. Peter: 5th Oct 2006 - 18:15 GMTim just not a fan of scientologists. i can quote vaguely likminded entries about the canadian pm, shit about the queen of england, slander against bush... sometimes, it pops up. sine is from florida, the jurisdiction of the person in question. i think this is fair game. furthermore, i find it fascinating, politically. so why not? if you dont like it, itll be scrolled off in a few days, so relax. ...as go all things with this site. ;) Susannah: 5th Oct 2006 - 18:25 GMTI don't like them either - there I said it, publicly. I don't like scientologists and I'm not afraid of your space alien creatures either! Susannah: 5th Oct 2006 - 18:26 GMTP.S. I heard L.Ron Hubbard wears a dress and was seen laughing all the way to the bank! EvilGentleman: 5th Oct 2006 - 20:42 GMTPerhaps this would be an appropriate moment to mention how much I loathe the damage caused by Christian fundamentalists in North America. Let me be clear that I am not referring to all the members of churches that are considered to be fundamentalist (Baptists, Pentecostals, certain groups of Roman Catholics, etc), but I am instead referring to the individuals who would see human rights and equality trampled on, all in the interest of seeing the majority forced to abide by the rules of the Bible, as interpreted by selected fundamentalists. Yet most of these same so-called "religious" people seem far more interested in money and power than actual salvation. How many commandments have they broken? How many of the seven deadly sins are the playthings of the fundamentalist? Society already knows how to tell right from wrong, and trying to force injustice upon others against their will is definitely wrong. There, now let the kook lucks clam types come out of the wooodwork and expose their stupidity for all to see. Susannah: 5th Oct 2006 - 20:50 GMTExcuse me Mr. Gentleman - how does this thread have anything to do with Christianity?P.S. Please include Presbyterians and Huguenots in your list of Christians who do not trample on the rights of others. Thank You. EvilGentleman: 5th Oct 2006 - 20:55 GMTI am now laughing rather loudly. I just figured if it's the time to slap religions we do not like the behaviour of, that I would toss my hat into the ring. Whether my comment stays or not is irrelevant, my point has been made. Susannah: 5th Oct 2006 - 21:04 GMTWell I guess I sort of deserved that (heh heh). But isn't calling scientology a religion taking things rather far? EvilGentleman: 6th Oct 2006 - 01:50 GMTThey call themselves a church. Therefore, they are a religion. Whether or not most of us feel this is a sensible or accurate description is of no matter. We cannot truly draw a line and dictate that one group is a religion and another one is not, unless we also wish to toss out a lot of the liberties and freedoms that we enjoy so much. 'Tis a shame that so many take advantage of that fact, though. Personally, I think I think politics is also a religion of its own. The old pharoahs and emperors were attributed divine powers, Henry VIII dictated the creation of the Anglican Church, the US Government puts "In God We Trust" on all its currency and coinage. Or is religion a form of politics? Uh-oh, I just confused myself. Lemme wander away and mull this one over...
Wes Fager: 7th Oct 2006 - 11:21 GMTScientologyTM has eliminated its reference to the Foley luncheon on its web page. They have rewritten history as if the brunch never occured. Wes Fager has located an archieved version of the ScientologyTM link and written an article on ScientologyTM's rewriting of this episode and its history of rewriting history at: www.theStraights.com/index.htm#foley Wes Fager Susannah: 8th Oct 2006 - 22:28 GMTEG - when I first read your comment I thought - Nah - Politics is politics and religion is religion. But now that I think of it politics is a religion to many people and I think that is part of what is wrong with the world today. This current drama, (Very much like the Clinton scandal) is a perfect example of people willing to sacrifice their morals for the sake of a political party. Thank you so much for helping me frame this problem! EvilGentleman: 8th Oct 2006 - 23:50 GMTYou're welcome, Susannah. I thought I was just spouting gibberish, like I usually do. No matter whether it is called religion, politics, kinship, patriotism, corporatism, ideology, loyalty, authority, "support", righteousness, or what have you, they are all synonyms for control, and antonyms for free thought. We must learn to look beyond what others tell us to see, and to come to terms with things as they are through our own eyes. I am a devout Marxist, but my Marxism does not involve communism or Karl Marx, but rather comedy and Groucho, Harpo, Chico, Zeppo and Gummo Marx.
Susannah: 11th Oct 2006 - 16:57 GMTYou know what else is a religion to some people - sports- sports, I was driving around today and I couldn't believe the amount of space we dedicate to Golf around here. There is something very strange to me about that. EvilGentleman: 11th Oct 2006 - 19:41 GMTYeah, nothing worse than a tract of over-cultivated green space that you are not allowed to have a picnic on. Up here, hockey is a religion. You are much more likely to suffer violence here if you blaspheme hockey than you are if you publicly denounce God, Allah, or whatever. Susannah: 11th Oct 2006 - 21:04 GMTI'll trade you a picture of someone doing something really, really STUPID on a golf course for a picture of someone doing something really, really STUPID on an ice hockey rink. EvilGentleman: 11th Oct 2006 - 22:54 GMTzanyvideos.com/video/339/Hockey-Check-Slammed-Into-Glass.html
Susannah: 12th Oct 2006 - 17:27 GMTI tried to find a really funny golf picture but THE MAN is keeping me down! The Scientology Connection (from a former Scientologist): 17th Oct 2006 - 22:12 GMTI hope this isn't a repeat entry... but as someone who was in Scientology for longer than I want to admit, I can say that the photo isn't enough to go on, no matter what anyone says about it. Scientology honors dignitaries and celebrities as a way of getting those very kind of photos to promote their cause, because the photos suggest that those IN the photos even know what Scientology is. And meanwhile, Scientologists get what they believe is good PR. (Hah!) Comment on this article..[previous] :: [next] |
