england versus scotland, challenge cricket match, circa 1974, this match was organised by the members of the union working mens club bar`lick better known as the pigeon club. england won by one run, but, of course the umpires were very biasedand of course the jocks are the much better looking side........

sadly folks, for any old barlickers not in touch with recent events, Chris Day, our local drummer with the group "Dark Horse" has just passed away, this was of course a complete shock to all of us who knew chris, unless you knew him, you won`t know the gap he has left in all our lives. the photo shows chris, with his partner Jenny, at a recent bash in barlick.....goodnight Chris, keep with the music mate, never forgotten

this is a blast from the past, one of bar`licks old pop groups from the early sixties, Cliff Stocker, ????, Geoff whiteoak, and Kenny Ranson,
Cliff is still going strong, with his band "Slack Alice". Geoff was working for wharfdale brewery, last time i saw him, and Kenny, is still updating his web site....

Well this seems to be a family comment, Jean is my Aunty and Vince Browne is my Step Father. My Mum is Pat Storey and I must say it is great to see these photos. Iam living in South Africa and those photos have made me very home sick. I was asked by John Stanley (Stan the man)if i could put this photo on the Barnoldswick site with the hope that someone out there could shed some light on it.
It as come from his late father-in-laws estate, Mr. James McKechnie, Kerris and Heather's father.
We gather that it's Townhead, but the little chap with the ice cream is an unknown and so is the van. Any comments would be very much appreciated.

In a nostalgic moment for roots I discovered your great web site. My family came to Barlick in 1939 with the Rover company. I went to Gisburn Road school till 1950. I wrote a biography of my mother and our life in Barlick from 39-60 and it went into the local public library. Wondered if it was still there? Love to hear from anyone I went to school with. i just visited my wonderful uncles and aunts in barnoldswick and absolutely loved my time with all of them. i was born in salterforth in 1958 and emigrated to australia with my mum and dad(roy and emily wellock) i love australia, but i feel half of me belongs in england. hi to any of my family who may happen to read this and i love you all.

Gus,enjoyed the site and pictures very much. My mother grew up in Barlick and immigrated to America with her parents in 1924. I last visted there in 1969 and stayed with a friend of mothers' in the "Monk House". Will be visiting again from Florida, USA, in six weeks to explore. What a neat looking little wick you have. I chanced apon your site researching Barnoldswick after reading mention of it in Development of Aircraft Engines by Robert Schlaifer. I, too, am in Florida. I grew up in Barlick. Lived at 24 Avon Drive until 1974 when the family emigrated to Canada. Most of my early memories involve ordinary things like going to Redmans for bacon on a Saturday morning with Mum or going to the pictures and anticipating the choc ice waiting for me at half time (saw my first Elvis pic there...) Playing at Vic Park and picnics at Ghyll (spelling?? yikes!)church hold extra special memories. I think that it's true....Barlick is in the blood. If anyone knows any of my relatives please post a note or two, love to hear any news. Here's the anticpated yet dreary (to those of you who don't recognise any of the names) list: Paul Kenny and family (Uncle) Michael Kenny (Uncle), Julie Hargreaves (friend from Skipton Girls High School) Jill P ??? (flaming red hair, great sense of humour). Well, I won't go...Oppps, too late!

hi just looked at your site,realy good,although i am not a barlicker i am an earbier (oops)i have lived here most of my life.Was hoping someone might have some photos of the magestic(bop club days)I remember seeing gene vincent there and Billy Fury and many more,great days.Can anyone remember THE FIVE NEWTONES it was a barlick group what was going about sometime in the 60s,if anyone has any photos i would love to see them.-)
