The title was "N.Y.P.D. Pizza", with the quotes. I guess citynoise doesn't like quotes. Can the title be without the quotes?

jamie: 13th Dec 2005 - 09:12 GMT

aaaaaah so that's how you break it! It's been bugging me for ages how people manage to post articles with a blank title. I can fix it now. Cheers.

joey: new york pizza department? what

beth03: 14th Dec 2005 - 15:53 GMT

nice photo.

in amsterdam (where i am at the moment) there is a pizza chain called New York Pizza. their motto is:

DAMN TASTY!

angiesugarshine : 14th Dec 2005 - 15:54 GMT

i don't usually comment, but...

I was born and raised in Philly, and can GUARANTEE at about 99% positivity that that pizza shop is run by NY'ers, most likely members of the NYPD.

If you ever have been to Philly, you'd know most people are die-hard Philadelphians, and have little care for NY. Most pizza places are chains, high-end ones run by restauranteurs, or run by Italians (there is an Italian section in Philly as well).

That picture is very odd.

sfynyc: 14th Dec 2005 - 17:12 GMT

I saw the same thing, down in South Florida, I was either in or near Lantana. I can't remember what town specifically.

JJ: The pizza there ain't half bad. Me likey.

Naj a la plage: 18th Dec 2005 - 10:26 GMT

JJ is right...their sicilian is the bomb diggity.

Christopher-Michael: 24th Jan 2006 - 03:44 GMT

It is owned by a family from NY. All the pictures inside are of NY and there are NY sports teams cards and posters on the wall. The food is good though.

mL: 25th Jan 2006 - 21:28 GMT

N.Y.P.D. stands for New York Pizza Department
and is run by an Italian family. There known
for there sicilian pizza and everyone just
loves a little taste of ny.

Leon: 7th Feb 2006 - 19:16 GMT

It's owned by an Italian Family?
N.Y.P.D - Is a chain, theres quite a few in Florida.

I love all the anti NY sentiment by philadelphians here(Stubborn!). Pride in where you grew up is great but to knock a place in philly because they reference or came from another town is just stupid. Its kind of widely known that asside from Italy, NY is next best place to find good pizza and this shop has the best pizza I've been able to find in philly.

I have never lived anywhere in my life before where people were so stubborn and narrow minded. If you talk to any native philidelphian there is no way they will admit that philly does anything badly. They will also rarely give credit where credit is due, to things outside of philly.

Sorry boys and girls but until you recognize that there is much to learn from others who do things better then yourselves your just going to perpetuate your 2nd rate reputation! Before any of you try to argue that 2nd rate issue. Philly is the 5th largest city not the first, positive but not #1. Its the 2nd fattest, which is just plain disgusting. The only thing philly's got going here is its history, but quite frankly what you where or used to be means nothing to most people who are focused on the future!

In Toronto, a New York pizza means a thin crust, Chicago is thick and a Torontonese is in between.

anon (c-69-136-233-97.hsd1.md.comcast.net): 12th May 2006 - 16:10 GMT

FYI: NYPD Pizza was started by Lou Perlman when the Backstreet Boys needed to be fed and their favorite food was pizza. He brought a NY chef to Orlando to make real NY pizza. NY Pizza is part of Lou's Transcontinental companies headquartered in Orlando. He even trademarked the phrase NYPD (NY had never done so and couldn't believe they missed it). It is now franchised and looking for franchisees around the country.

george: 26th Mar 2008 - 23:59 GMT

i'm so sorry but the only place make pizza like NY is JOE'S PIZZA 16TH AND SAMSON
