The side-door and front sign to the now very-much-defunct "Little Joe's Lounge" at the corner of South Orange Avenue and Newton Street in Newark, New Jersey.

yeah... the specific, idiosyncratic meaning of the term "package store" has all but been forgotten. now its just an arcane (though still used often enough, especially on older cities that have bars/stores that have been around for ages) euphemism for "liquor store". im sure its a strictly american term.
