Critical Mass 05-26-06

- Brad - Monday, May 29th, 2006 : goo

We made it into Chicago a little late because of traffic. We quickly hit the streets trying to find the ride and found it only a few blocks from where it started, the pictures begin a block or two after we joined in, almost all were taking while riding so some got pretty blurry, but these were some of my favorites out of the almost 200 pictures I took.

This was my first time riding in a Critical Mass ride. I've read all about them and seen pictures and videos, but there aren't any in Springfield. There were of course the obvious reactions from a lot of the motorists, but there were plenty of people on the south side gathered outside or hanging out the windows cheering and waving. Towards the end started getting a little goofier with some riders tippin' the bottle, like the kid that practically flipped over his handle bars but managed to saved his drink.

This guy was pulling some badass . Often going for blocks and blocks, sometimes stopped only by people getting in the way.

The end of the ride at Archer & Damien Streets. A few unlucky drivers got stuck trying to turn left into the parking lot, only to be stuck in the middle of the riders. Eventually the cops started making everybody get off the street.

Chris Erb: Any reports on how many people there were?

I love the shot with the bubbles. Great pictures.

Never heard any numbers on attendance. Some people said it looked like less than the April ride though.

I was just browsing for pictures of an unrelated topic when I found this blog. This was also my first Critical Mass ride, cheers!
