This article has been viewed 12076 times in the last 3 years jeeff: 11th May 2005 - 14:12 GMThaha, the guy walking through the last shot. he looks very aware that he's in the wrong place. or maybe they plant people like this along the race course as realistic bike-messenger "obstacles"? Peter: 11th May 2005 - 14:20 GMTthat guy was taking video of the start, and got a little more swarmed than he had planned... just imagine... being rushed by 200+ increasingly drunk/amped bike messengers, who are all riding trackbikes with no brakes, heh! shoshannah: 12th May 2005 - 20:28 GMTmeredith viera (from The View) was in that race but halfway through she flipped over her handlebars and broke two of her ribs!! Shadow: 6th Sep 2005 - 17:51 GMTHey...just an idea....I bet people who love messengers (like I do) would love to buy spoke cards on Ebay for collectors items. You have to put key words in the title that people would be searching for....Like "Messenger Monster Track Spoke Card". Otherwise noone would see them to bid on. Thanks.....Shadow Peter: 6th Sep 2005 - 17:54 GMThahaha. that would be the utmost of lameness... selling your spokecard. you get the card for racing in the race. if you'd like to have your own monstertrack spokecard, come race in it next year. after racing in that race, i dont know many people who would want to give up their card... theyre pretty sought-after. but hey, if you want some random spokecards that look cool, i'd be happy to make you some if the price is right. just say the word. but the really cool ones, you pretty much have to earn. shadow: 7th Sep 2005 - 05:12 GMTHey Peter.....no offense man....I get the point....you're right after all. Us flat landers (Nebr.) dream about places like New York and Boston. Enjoy....you live in an awesome place! Shadow Peter: 7th Sep 2005 - 14:06 GMTshadow: i propose you get a crew together and throw the biggest race that nebraska has ever seen! you'd probably have no trouble getting sponsorship and having prizes donated by companies, as you'd have virtually no competition... make a scene, man! make some crazy cards and make us jaded urbanites jealous of your sprawling, warm, green, low-traffic flat spaces- the perfect setting for one hell of a race, dude... travis mpls: 11th Nov 2005 - 10:53 GMTDoes anybody question fixed gear or are all of us so sheepish to think the hospital is cool. This CULTure is becoming pretty snotty. Peter: 11th Nov 2005 - 15:27 GMT"question fixed gear"? huh? ive been riding fixed/trackbikes for years and never ended up in the hospital. also: im not snotty, and i can assure you that most of the people involved in the above pictured event arent either. theyre just mostly poor/hard-working folks who like to ride/race minimalist bicycles around nyc. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 11th Nov 2005 - 20:20 GMTPeter is not snotty (I've got got your back, mate).
Micah: 20th Feb 2006 - 20:50 GMTIf you're riding then it's not your nose that's snotty, it's everything below your nose. Peter: 21st Feb 2006 - 02:32 GMTthis race is coming up again in a couple of weeks. ill keep yall posted with more pics! Peter: 21st Feb 2006 - 02:51 GMTheh! ill have to suggest that as a tshirt idea. the folks who operate this race, the new york bike messenger's association (www.nybma.com LITTERERS BEWARE! iish: 18th May 2007 - 00:04 GMTwe have something here in Century City-- ITs called a nap.....
