- jeeff - Thursday, June 9th, 2005 : goo

so i was searching for images to add to fuzzy tank article, but i stumbled across something so cool i thought i should post it separately.

image 2505

"At the end of World war II the US forces requested that the Japanese concentrate their equipment for disarmamment. All tanks were parked for inspection on the Etscheidt property outside Kolonia, Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia. This is where they remain to the present day."

- Dirk R. Spennemann (1999), The Japanese Tank Farm on Pohnpei, Micronesia.

the rest of Dirk's article (more cool photos!) at marshall.csu.edu.au/html/PNI_Tanks/PNI-tankfarm.html.

and for reference, micronesia:

my name is ron etscheidt and i just dicovered the other side of the old family tree - so who knows who owns these tanks ? I want to know where the etscheidt lives that owns the tanks and where he originated?

jeeff: 16th Sep 2006 - 03:24 GMT
