I've spotted this little yacht in Toronto harbour off and on over the past couple years, so I decided to try and find out who owns this mammoth thing. It's called the Maximus II.

I found out it's a yacht for hire for anybody willing to part with $35,000 USD per week.

yikes!

Don't forget to add the $20 per lock lockage fees for using either the Welland Canal or the St Lawrence Seaway, or $4 per foot of vessel length for a 6-day pass. Unless of course, you are content to pay 35 grand US just to putter around Lake Ontario.

I don't think this thing can travel on open seas, so I'm not sure it can be called a Yacht. I think its more of a pleasure cruiser.

zagg: 22nd Aug 2006 - 02:09 GMT

Well at the least, Chiamattt - it's what we Great Lakers would call a yacht. But just for kicks, I looked up the meaning at websters.com and it fits:

Main Entry: 1yacht
Pronunciation: 'yät
Function: noun
Etymology: obsolete Dutch jaght, from Middle Low German jacht, short for jachtschip, literally, hunting ship
: any of various recreational watercraft: as a : a sailboat used for racing b : a large usually motor-driven craft used for pleasure cruising

Grange: HEY !!! Get off my boat !!!!
