Day out

[previous] :: [next]

now yesterday i thought i had better go out. i hadn't been eating properly and my only human contact had been through the cyberwall or telphone, which is all good, and where would i be without it, but still. and i was feeling a) hungry and b) lonely and c) not so much stir crazy as in need of physical movement. i have been especially lethargic lately, and although exercise doesn't give me energy in the way that i would like it to, it does give me something. i arranged to meet alistair for breakfast, and we headed off to central hackney to go to a cafe called mess which is a cut above the regular greasy spoon, while still providing the correct breakfast of bacon egg sausage mushroom toast and rather cunning potato chips which have a bit of a roast potato mojo. they also do smoothies which is a good thing too, and vegetarian fry ups. on the way i made al take a photo of a kitty in a shop window lounging on a stack of rice bags to add to this citynoise post about cats in shop windows (among other things) since my camera is sick right now and my phone isn't connective, but his is.
in the cafe al had to read the news, because he is addicted, and i had to not read the news because i get anxious. ian arrived and we ate and then did the crossword together. this cafe would not let the likes of charlie in - i don't know why little georgia does, but i suspect it is because they are willful mad russians who are not interested in barring dogs, so simply don't. somehow al persuaded me to go into the west end with him. he played me the bloods and the contortions tracks on a compilation cd he'd borrowed from the library, and we headed off to the bus stop. town does not look any different than ever. it is still skanky and busy.
shopping with alistair is largely to my taste - he understands the concept of keeping it surgical, and our common interest is a visit to muji. before we do that tho, we have to take in several guitar shops. when we pop in to a shoe shop briefly he says - you owe me a shop now. at a certain point i get grizzly, so he takes me to a cafe i have never been to to recover, it is very nice and i can't belive i have never been there before, it is cool and chilled out and serves raw veg juices. i rally somewhat and then we go home.
i also saw many things i wanted for cn, which i will have to get anon, but here for your pleasure is a couple of pix i took of charlie in the little georgia the other day...

Charlie's eyes are so empathic and beautiful their light spills through the air, leaving a trail of dog-sweetness. He has a great grin. Good dog!

GGP: I also liked the narrative, meant to say.

Peter: ghost dog!
