this past weekend i went to the great city of chicago for pitchfork's annual music festival, and arrived on day early to see what the windy city has to offer. of course on friday the city wasn't windy at all. it was sweltering. but still very charming. enjoy.

taken from the window seat on the plane. this is just when the plane reaches 10,000 feet -- on a slightly overcast day (like long island had friday morning) it's pretty incredible.

millenium park, just on the edge of the famous grant park. two gigantic fountains that periodically drenched passersby, both were, appropriately packed on friday.

The kids in the fountain is very refreshing as it going to be 100F here in NYC (with the 'real feel' of 115F)

EvilGentleman: 2nd Aug 2006 - 13:56 GMT

Yeah, we were lucky here in Montreal yesterday. It was only 93F, but with the 61% humidity, it felt like 115F, according to Environment Canada. The Jordanians in the apartment next door to me told me they wish they were in Saudi Arabia or Egypt, where the weather is not so hot and humid. They said the humidity is unbearable. At least it only feels like 96F right now, but that is a 9 AM reading.

Toronto fared worse, with the northern suburbs hitting 100F which was 117F when the humidity was factored in. The humidex reading never dropped below 100F all night, and at last reading, at 9 AM, it was 102F.
