Mountain City

Just came back from a trip to Morocco.
Tetouan is a city in the North of Morocco, near the Mediterranean and the Rif-mountains. A lot of Dutch Moroccan immigrants come from this area. During the summer, it should be a very vivid place when the Euopean immigrants return to visit their families and reside at the beaches, but in winter it is a bit quiet.

Bakery in midtown still uses a wood oven, so in the middle of the night the street is full of logs. The next morning I could hardly see the vendor because of all the smoke in the little shop.

Morocco my dream destination... until then I can dream. :)
The photographs of Tetouan at dawn at amazing.

There's a lot of sand indeed, but also a lot of mountains with all kinds of orchards and even vineyards and fertile, grassy flatlands, and you can even go snowboarding over there. And the cities are very diverse, each has has a really distinct vibe.
But it's not all exotic dreamland. A lot of pollution, poverty and corruption, child labour and -prostitution, women's abuse: there's a long road to go.

I spent some time in Tetouan when I first arrived in morocco. It was an amazing experience...I wish I had taken more pictures to share with you now! I ended up going down to Fez and Rabat during my stay in this amazing country -- it was worth it.

Tetouan is the best city in morocco and where I spend all my childhood.
I miss it so much
