All-night Ramen Shop

- jeeff - Tuesday, April 12th, 2005 : goo

this is one of a series of concept images for a short film about tokyo's night-shift workers. this isn't an actual shop, but takes inspiration for the restaurant elements from real fast-food chains like yoshinoya, and for the architectural elements from some of the office buildings lining showa-dori avenue in ginza, tokyo. as an illustration and one not drawn directly from life maybe this is an odd submission for citynoise.org, but the aim of this picture is to portray the mood of these places, a kind of tokyo archetype, so i hope you agree that it's fitting.

wow, i love it! its nice to have a drawing of yours here, for sure. i really love this sort of entry- good visuals with a solid bit of text. nice.

hasslehoff: 3rd Mar 2005 - 10:37 GMT

not odd at all. this is indeed fitting. i like this image very much and the text accompanying it sets it off beautifully. I hope this is the beginning of an enjoyable new trend on citynoise

dude your art is fucking amazing...

my only critique is shouldn't the kanji reflected in the window be reversed...like a mirror image?

jeeff: 31st Mar 2005 - 03:40 GMT

hey, you're right! whoops. i often seem to make silly little errors like this. for example, recently i drew a street with all the street-light facing away from the street. i'll just pretend they're little surrealistic easter eggs. yeah, that's it.

Peter: sine is a stickler for detail ;)

fuzzytank: hehe but shes totally right
