Abandoned Building Complex

A friend and I visited this abandoned building last summer. He had been there before, but only at night, so we decided to get a better look. I took my 35mm (sorry about the scans, but I swear by film) in hopes of some neat sights. This place is just a few blocks from my house in Ohio City. It was a fun visit.
There were two huge and one smaller warehouse style rooms. We were able to get down to the floor of the tidier of the two big ones. There were some cool schematic drawings in a office type room off the huge room.
I spotted this bizarre dead plant on the roof.
The doors were locked, but there was one with a chain loose enough for us to slip in. Once inside we could access most of the complex.
This little dilapidated shack was on the outskirts of the complex, right next to the train tracks.
You get a excellent view of this great graffiti from the roof. It says "teach me to swim".

it is exciting to sneak into a place like that. in brooklyn there was a house on the corner of west 4th street and kings highway that was owned by two old x-firemen and eventually closed up. as kids we would sneak into the place and roam around the joint. it was scary as can be and there were sightings of ghosts by some of the kids on the block. one summer afternoon, with my bologna and yellow american cheese on wonder bread sandwich, tucked neatly in my rear dungaree pocket, i ventured into the place. i finally made it through the front door after building up enough courage to do so. it was dark but seeable. silent but i could hear the buses on kings highway and the traffic. i was motionless in the kitchen area, totally frightened, and jumpy as all hell. it took ten minutes for me to creep through the kitchen and make it to the dinning room. there was a stairway to my right going up to the next floor and then i heard something.

scratching. i heard scratching, like a dying body scratching its last words onto the floor. so i slowly crept towards the stair and looked up into the darkness. i dont know what it was that made me climb those crickety stairs but i went up step by step, slower and slower, inch by inch, (is this sounding like an abbot and costello story?) until i made it to the top landing. i believed i heard a baby crying. yes, it was, a baby crying! i called out, "hello, hello", and then silence. there were three rooms at the top with a foyer and so i moved to a doorway to look in. there they were.

it's at the intersection of fulton road and monroe street on the near west side of cleveland. monroe is between lorain and i-90.
