Steam Pipe, 5th Ave

I realized today that I haven't taken enough shots of the ubiquitous nyc steam pipe. Maybe I've taken them for granted because they're so common place, but thats exactly the type of thought I want to banish from my head. Nothing is ever to common place that it can't be re-investigated. Lately I've been looking hard in my immediate neighborhood, to try and find things that I haven't considered before - and I've found a lot. With the right light and weather permitting, I'm going to take those shots soon. Your day to day environment can seem pretty mundane at times but it has a way of changing or maybe you do the changing.

Anyway, steam pipes are cool.

yeah. most of the pictures i have posted on cn have been within a half hour walk of where i live and i see more things to photograph all the time. i do live in an interesting neighbourhood, but still, i am interested in the mundane.
nice work on the trick of making the steam pipe look the height of the buildings behind it, by the way

I really love the 1st photo particularly. Do you have a site with your work on Dave?...I'd sure love a hi-res img for my desktop!

Yellow Sand

Big cities have smog alerts. Seoul gets Yellow dust/sand alerts. Wind picks up sand from the Gobi Desert in China and Mongolia and sends it down onto Korea. The South Korean government has been spending quite a bit of money...
