jack: i could swear that this is the old navy yards where i shipped out for europe in dec of 1961. we hit the north atlantic in rough storms for 4 days and many got...... Peter: thats actually the {williamsburgh savings bank} ([[4519:1]], [[3104:2]])... which i coincidentally saw a documentary on last night. its the tallest building in {brooklyn} and will be until {ratner}'s {atlantic yards} scheme happens... ... Chris Erb: Is Atlantic Yards actually going to happen? I thought there was such an outcry that it wasn't looking good. I only know a bit about the project.... Peter: Chris Erb: it is... but not for long... {ratner}'s scheme for the {atlantic yards} will change that fact :(... Peter: i snapped this one today while parking my car over on {dean} street. i liked the tree, as well as the {atlantic yards}, etc. the tower was an added bonus i kept in the shot...... jack: brooklyn navy yards, i set sail for europe on dec 18th on a ship with 900 other soldiers. they all got sea sick. i did not. but i was on the bottom...... colavitos ghost: Peter, the new arena will be for the New Jersey (soon to be Brookyln?) Nets, not the Knicks. I live in Fort Greene, about 300 yards from the Atlantic Yards and I can think...... Peter: damn, dude! i feel for you. you may have read on here about {Ratner}'s {atlantic yards} proposal, which would bring many 45+ story buildings (and a new knicks arena. ugh) a few blocks from my...... Peter: wow- this is a great sort of entry- a fascinating photo with a story behind it that really catches you.
please keep us posted as to the outcome of this... as a new yorker, i can...... Peter: that last link reminded me of the [[110:avenue a shrine]] (oldskool citynoise).

Peter: totally. i live right up the street from that, and used to work right across dean street from that piece. i love the building its on, too, that huge old creepy warehouse building. ive daydreamed......
