3 Am Freight Train

author: ian : Houston, TX

Every night it runs from from Freeport to Houston loaded with a thousand tons of plastic pellets from amazing modern factories. It blasts a horn with distressing regularity as it passes 3 blocks from my bedroom window. It is a terrible thing when a car or pedestrian fails to clear the only signalled intersection in town. When I hear a train horn, I think of the nights huddled under the covers with my parents fighting, the heavy bass sound reverberating in my head, so awake awake awake.
