At midnight on May 31, it is supposed to become illegal to smoke indoors in any environment in Quebec where people are working. This includes bars, restaurants, garages and even tobacco factories.
Anti-smoking groups and insurance companies are hailing this occasion as a major step in bringing Quebec in line with the standards in the rest of North America. No longer will employers have to deal with cigarette smoke as a health hazard in the workplace.
