this store at one time was a movie theatre. it was the, lowes oriental. it was a magnificent theatre. my favorite uncle, bob, took me there when he came home from the war. he had been thru the battle of the bulge and he helped liberate concentration camps. he went to war at 17 and came home at 21. he wanted to enjoy life again and so one day, i think it was in 46 or 47 he took me to the movies. just to walk around that area was a thrill. ...

Washburn Tunnel


3100 Federal Rd. The ship channel undoubtedly transformed this city into the petrochemical juggernaught it is today. There was once another tunnel under it, but it's been replaced with a magnificent cable-stayed suspension bridge.
