Previous Day :: Next DayCatherine Penfold-Waxman: Ok. One last one for you. This sign is funny because it looks like Joan Collins married Michael Jordan (she didn't, did she?).
jeeff: those signs are great. i really miss the attention to detail in modern shops and gas stations, etc. now (in north america at least) everything is prefab, premade, mass-produced, bland. OHK->: dr.sex rest in peace OHK->: banksy is the shit! droid: check out the huge black fill they did on vanderbuilt two blocks up from atlantic. they are very attentive to filling. there are also some more reckless shits in that same lot...brooklyn droid: Yo FOOLS! yall look pretty compitent enough to be walking, yall some lazy ass criples....if i see you in bed stuy im goin to be a droid riding your droids!!!! hee hee! binladen: pi pan do singa bra. hela alqaida sjåpe den plate. likka til min jenta,, ngahuia: yeah the first truck is bad. big ups to the dude that done it or even the chick. yeah the fred truck is tight too! ngahuia: yeah man those two days were bad. they done up two or three vehicles which was tight colavito's ghost: let's just pretend it did look like a peacock; would that be much better? colavito's ghost: Why is there a hookah in that fourth one? Medicine?.....sure..... Balloonhedz: Yup. the FIRST of two portals (south side of the tunnel) comes out into daylight and the yard at Vanderbilt Ave. There were two yard designations years ago..VD Upper and VD Lower. The structure might still be there too...but I doubt its active anymore...used to be Vanderbilt... GGP: extraordinary--beautiful! I like the foxglove, the star-ray, and the bee. that last set offers some deliciously detailed botanical images. Peter: wow, i live right near the atlantic yards... is that what you mean by the vanderbilt ave yard? GGP: cool! I don't know why this posted as "unknown"--I posted it and was pretty sure GGP was listed as author, but maybe I hit the wrong button in my excitement. :) Balloonhedz: Oh...and I liked the old Stillwell Ave better. My first Coney hot dog was NOT at Nathans...but rather at the TA employee luncheonette on the overpass. I used to ride with a Motorman. He never let me anywhere NEAR the street and wouldnt take me to Nathans cuz... Editor:: way to go, B-Sin. you just got the commenting turned off on this post. Balloonhedz: yup..you usually smell it before you see it. Even after the exhaust has been run through the water filter. Theyre not supposed to run diesels underground. The LIRR used to have diesel hauled freight into Flatbush Ave Terminal. The south half of the tracks were for electric... Catherine Penfold-Waxman: Ow. My neck hurts from looking up at the Empire State photo! This is a really cool shot. Is it from a regular observation deck? (102nd floor?) Peter: id love to see some pictures of that... bikes in amsterdam... especialyl if you see any kronans! Peter: also: check this out... reminds me of this entry. Peter: i think "doze" should know that hes biting the one and only "doze green" by using that name.
www.dozegreen.com
no wonder hes "crewless". Peter: heh! Peter: i love pickled stuff... as long as it isnt some sort of meat. i suppose i should try a pickled egg sometime, but i wouldnt know where to go to get one!
speaking of eggs and chips for lunch... reminds me of this entry:
www.citynoise.org/article/1238#5482 Catherine Penfold-Waxman:
Talking of dodgy foods, after reading this thread I was hungry (chips! Pickled eggs!) so I went to a great Pollo A La Brassa place here in Astoria, Queens for lunch. The soup is chicken heart soup. I personally don't eat the hearts (much to the anoyance of the... Peter: cool. im glad youre sharing your trip with us here, man... Peter: im guessing that stands for something like mobile emergency response vehicle... MERV is a great name for such a bus. though im sure that the FDNY would be hard-pressed to keep many immobile emergency response vehicles around ;) Peter: paulg, love the photos, man! also love your take on the strata of austin. ive only been there once, but i must say that you hit the nail right on the head, especially with the cash-avec-nirvana bit, heh. Peter: oh wow, these rule. gotta love the work trains. it never fails... a late night, coming home after something, sitting in the station forever waiting for a train to come... then you hear the rumble, from far away... as it approaches, the yellow work train appears in the station, going... Peter: awesome!! i love trains. especially when theres shots of em in brooklyn. thsoe are two of my fav things :) Editor:: fixed. thanks for posting, cari! Peter: lucky you, ian. awesome- now we can see mroe of your great shots...
i like these two- a nice contrast, literally and figuratively. Cari: We just talked about organic farming ins Spanish Class today! Peter: hahaha sweet. i love the ball-trail... its great that hes all a blur, save for his left leg and head... as should be the case in a good tee-off :) Peter: jamie- "add image" to comment box would rock the house, dude. Peter: wow!! those remind me of rockefeller center here... all decco-ed out.
also: loving hte microscope bas relief... and the rabits and random lab apparatus.
cool stuff, man! thanks for sharing. Peter: hey nice pics! thanks for posting. we'd love to see more... i always like sights fro mthe uk.. the graf, streets, urban planning- its just enough different from over here in the US that its always interesting :) ian: Pickled eggs are quite delicious if you're in the mood, especially the ones in soy sauce. But pickled asparagus rules the roost. ian: I agree. Images in comments seems to be a very common theme. One of the best things about CN is people annotating entries with their own experiences, memories, and photos. Definitely make it more clear how to add a photo to a comment. MC: Would also like to know what other people think of these pictures....any feedback is welcome. jeeff: jamie - good idea Balloonhedz: well it *was* a bright sunny day ;-) elaine: hahahahaha - fab. glad to inspire drooling, even if it is only over pickled eggs and chips and things Cari: oops! When I edited, I guess I left out my name. Those are mines. nash ira: up the ra tiocfaidh ar la long live the provos kill all huns burn the cunts brit bastard nash ira: we will win the fight
nash ira: fuck the huns and usa Catherine Penfold-Waxman: I've eaten a pickled egg. I wasn't even drunk. It was pretty good. But the pickled onions are where it's at. It is delicious to see the chip shop and chips. I'm a Brit in New York (I've been here 12 years) so I've been craving all the food that... Catherine Penfold-Waxman: I like the way the artist's hands have become an extension of the painting in the last picture. I also quite fancy his breakfast of grapes. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: That's a beauty, Ian. I wish I'd seen it. Do you remember where you saw it? The 'old' Vegas is much more interesting from a design point of view. I loved Vegas for the crafting of it's image. There's no subtlety. And I hated Vegas for all the same reasons.... ally: if anyone is still looking for the whereabouts of his work, theres this site... http://www.artofthestate.co.uk/Banksy/Banksy_B_Boy_Rat.htm once you get to here if you just flick through the images, most tell you where you can find them and status like whether they have been removed or buffed. From what I hear, most... tasha : i bin dere its all gd !!!!!!!!!!!! tasha : random !!!!!!!!!! tasha : dat photo is reli random but in a gd way n a scary way !!!!!! elaine: i like the marigold mattress. magic Jamie: Thoughts on adding image upload button to comment box?... australian graffa: how yer where dis at adam: a+.. specially the first jeeff: it's good to see someone enjoying their work. jeeff: the second photo really has something special. all the horizontals. that one has my vote for future printing & framing. outstanding. jeeff: same code as in articles. just go to the 'add article' page (www.citynoise.org/post.php - i usually do this in another window) and 'upload photos' and then bring the code back here.
here's ian's image:
Balloonhedz: hey yknow I never looked at it as having a face...it does doesnt it?
ian: citynoise wins the internet, yet again. ian: I can't believe I haven't posted this picture here before!
http://valine.org/pf/15.jpg
Peter, how do I make images inline in the comments? Catherine Penfold-Waxman: I love these, especially the first one. It's so graphic. I think that it would make an excellent hypnotist's tool. Stare at it hard enough, click your fingers and you're Napoleon. jeeff: i think we need to add a strtolower command to this thread. Previous Day :: Next Day |
