Previous Day :: Next DayCE: I really love them, I especially like the antennas on all the houses. These streetscape posts are some of my favourite posts on Citynoise, but they are rarely posted because, to the people living in their cities, they see them everyday and hardly notice them. CE: I've never seen this before. It looks a lot like the rendition of the Metro in NDG in this pic
from this article. CE: My old camera used to take really cool pictures in the snow for some reason. I think its shittiness made the snow flakes look really cool with the inability to change the intensity flash.
Village of Whoville? CE: Have you ever been to Metro Lucien-L'Allier? Those escalators go on and on forever! upfromflames: Dunno where you are coming from with that. I am working out there now interviewing some of the folks of the block association, which helped the neighborhood to stay solid after the blackout, like starting that lovely garden at the intersection on the NE corner of B'way and Linden.
Its not... JimQV: Linden, from Bushwick to Evergreen Aves? I worked in Bushwick, it's pretty horrible. Very dangerous, and it's not going to get better. You have "newbies" to NYC on this message board who think cheap rent in Bushwick is worth risking their necks, how stupid. Of course, this post will never... howie: i grew up on linden street between bushwick and evergreen/ went to st. barbara'sthis was from 1948 till 1959 any one know what this area is like now?
anon (vader.hosystems.com): I grew up here....
Suydam st. Between wilson and knickerbocker...
Menehan between Irving and Wycoff... Frank S. Besner: I was certain St-Henri was the deepest, too.
turns out the title goes to Charlevoix. St-Henri only clocks in at 20th!
I'm pretty sure this illusion is attributable to depth according to sea level,
as opposed to depth in relation to ground. for more fun metro related trivia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Montreal_metro_stations hifilofi: There were multiple waves of 3 decker construction related to the fluctuation of Worcester's economy. In fact, most were designed, financed, and rented out by factory trusts. This neighborhood, and most 3 decker districts in the city, were constructed between 1890 and 1915. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: I swear I thought the woman in the last photo was levitating. Frank S. Besner: Yessir! probably one of my favourites too.
See it on my way back from work every day.
Super nice work by NME & crew. Wonder waht they're
planning on doing with the empty lot in front of it, though...
Go! Community garden, go! Alan D.: Thanks for the photo. Like Joan, I was born in Prospect Heights Hospital, but in 1945; unhappily moved to the Bronx in 1955. BUT, Brooklyn is still in my blood. Andrea Kaufman and Tibby Ludden, where are you? leila: hey im from edinburgh, and work on cockburn street. how old is that picture? haha.. ground control is now two shops (ground control and cookie) cookie is pink on the outside and ground control is now green. actually- most the shops have changed. so i think you should get your... Catherine Penfold-Waxman: I'm thinking for our over 50 gang (even though at least two of us are under 50) we should take a lesson from these "real" gangstas and develop a language that only we understand. Here goes: nuff rexpekt ta ya, teakettes til we die. jack: your right, even better the government should round up every gang member and put them into a special branch of the army and send them to iraq to look for osama, i'm sure these young tough guys could do the job, but i'm sorry for the fact that they will... jack: do you know where the village of whoville exists? Swedish student: There is in fact a lot of crime in Oslo, but this can be said to be a problem in most capitols in the world. If you take a look at statistics from crime in Norway (ssb.no), you can clearly see that this is an Oslo-problem, much like a Paris-problem... Jackie: This is the sort of yellow dust you would find in my neighbours house SCAM28: Damn....definetly a nice one! EvilGentleman: Nice one. Welcome aboard. Good to see another Montrealer here. EvilGentleman: jack, see what happens when you use the word "gang" in the name of your post? These "geniuses" don't even bother reading the actual post itself, they are just tagging cyberspace via comments. If they actually looked at the post, they would see there is nothing here about their kind... upfromflames: Police statistics would not exactly back you up. Don't believe everything you read. Sonray: i live in bushwick its ight there in daytime occasional murder and rape more robbery really Sonray: i wouldnt go into bed stuy, marcy projects area, east new york area in daytime if i were you jeeff: why would you assume that people in ontario start drinking immediately after visiting the lcbo any more than quebecers start drinking immediately after visiting the gas station or dépanneur? that is truly absurd. anon (static-71-250-246-29.nwrknj.east.verizon.net): theres no place like hell kitchen im 37 now i dont live there no more but it will always be with me. who am i [ hells kitchen ] Jan : How old do you have to be?
