Previous Day :: Next Day

jeeff: there was an intersection nearby. my camera is a point-and-shoot but it also has good manual features. i use those when i shoot at night. if the colour shift continues to bug you, just "fix it in post" as those in the film industry say. luckily...

in response to Swans at Night

aer suzuki: thanks for the comments, and thanks for the editing [filling in my title/location for me].

in response to Seattle Nightshots

EvilGentleman: Wow, 20 second exposures? So what was the light source behind you that made the grass reflect green? Every time I try this sort of stuff, I get a severe colour shift, usually from whatever the artificial light source was.

in response to Swans at Night

big blue bob: ogc what is that?

in response to followup graffiti hunt

jeeff: sometimes when it's cloudless it gets fairly dark in spots. otherwise, not really. however keep in mind those are 20 second exposures.

in response to Swans at Night

affordablehousingnow: I agree with the last post. Affordable housing, not inflationary prices for bushwick. Let's not push all of the people out of Bushwick like they were pushed out of wburg, etc.

in response to My House in Bushwick

Catherine Penfold-Waxman: These are lovely shots. Really beautiful.

in response to Sacred and Little Altars 2

EvilGentleman: Somehow, I think a trade should be brokered. That WTC piece should sit in a display case at the top of the Sears Tower, and you should swipe a few doorknobs or something from the Sears Tower, and toss them into the drying cement of Freedom Tower's foundation.

in response to Chicago:

EvilGentleman: LOL, jack. You just reminded me of the Monty Python dead parrot sketch. When the owner tried to take advantage of the lifetime guarantee, it soon became apparent that the guarantee was over since the parrot's life had ended.

in response to Royal Video Exchange, Pt. 2

Hiphopmuneca: That was real nice it made me appreciate the city i live in a lot more than i already do....

in response to Chicago:

EvilGentleman: The city lights reflected off the clouds provided perfect illumination for a shot taken at 12:45 AM (assuming your camera's clock was set right). It never really gets dark there, does it? Unless the power goes out...

in response to Swans at Night

Hiphopmuneca: It looks so peaceful

in response to Swans at Night

EvilGentleman: Nice find. Definitely some good optical illusion effects in that shadow, too. Now I know where the puzzle-makers get their ideas from.

in response to Shadowbox

EvilGentleman: And all I knew of Glenn Miller was "In The Mood", "Moonlight Serenade" and "Pennsylvania 6-5000" (the phone number of the Pennsylvania Hotel on 7th Ave, if my grandmother told me right).

in response to America\'s Most Boring Towns: 8

EvilGentleman: Jack, are you telling me that there are Vietnam vets out there who do not know what cannabis plants look like? Even if you were totally straight arrow, then you should still recognize the stuff. Cuz as far as I know, half the US military in those days were hippies that...

in response to End Gender

jack: one of my favorite songs is 'along the santa fe trail' played by glenn miller. if you ever have an opportunity to hear it you will like it.

in response to America\'s Most Boring Towns: 8

jack: i like the pipes. that is an attack killer dog.

in response to Dog on the Counter

jack: very melodramatic look, i want to see a super agent or 007 in this shot.

in response to Seattle Nightshots

jack: back in the 70's a dude would stand on the corner of albany street and washington street and keep his nickel bags in the top of a broken johnnie pump 'fire hydrant'.

in response to End Gender

jack: great for mechanical drawing classes.

in response to Shadowbox

jack: is it your lifetime or theirs?

in response to Royal Video Exchange, Pt. 2

jack: another good man killed.

in response to $12,000 Reward

jack: nice pic's tamara.

in response to Sacred and Little Altars 2

jack: elaine thx, there was a movie of a mannequin on the 13th floor of a department store where every day a new mannequin would have the feedom to walk and talk like a human. this one mannequin forgot she was a mannequin and wanted to stay as a human....

in response to June Bride

Editor: hi tamara, the location for an article usually refers to the location in the photos, rather than your current location. makes it easier for people to search the site. what should i change this to? -------, cambodia?

in response to Sacred and Little Altars 2

Jimmy: No love for the southside? Sure Englewood and Cabrini Greens is rough, but good folks still live in Mt. Greenwood and Beverly! Also, what neighborhood is Cabrini technically in?

in response to Cabrini Green [whats left of it]

EvilGentleman: Banks in NDG tend to get robbed a lot, so they prefer to keep their glass clean. Had you been running with a money bag when you hit the glass, you would have wound up on the "America's Dumbest Criminals" TV show. (Like AFV, they show Canadian stuff, too). Those...

N3k$ NSK crew : Rest In Paint "S@ne" i have had this obsession with grafitti since i was a kid I dont know what it is almost like i was infected by a graf virus I had this strange urge to go places looking for throw ups constantly going places the average person wouldnt care...

in response to Mofidious

in response to End Gender

joey: are you using some special lens?

in response to Sidewalk Shots from the Shadows

joey: jack with the sci-fi spin. i was thinking more along the lines of the eyeglasses billboard in f. scott fitzgerald's 'the great gatsby'. witnesses to life without emotion.

in response to June Bride

mofidious: the end

in response to Mofidious

Tamara: If you have been smoking leaves like those above, you've been enjoying something else.. 'Pot' leaves look like this...

in response to End Gender

EvilGentleman: If only I had known. I think I opted for the club sandwich. I guess I'll have to go back and order the spaghetti this time. Lemme see, on the weekend, that should be an 8-hour drive from here...

in response to New Ideal Diner

Phill : Can someone get a photo of the spray painted white boy killer at the top?

in response to Cabrini Green [whats left of it]

Phill : To give you an update cabrini green is still currently alive. There are five buildings still standing that people live in that arn't under demolition, however there are six that have been demolished. The cabrini green extension homes or red buildings, are no longer there they have been demolished, only...

in response to Cabrini Green [whats left of it]

EvilGentleman: Chris, I wonder if your dad also owns a Karen Osoway piece. You should check it for signatures, next time you go back to the Sussex area.

in response to Sawblade Art

EvilGentleman: Your mother is a very nice and very talented lady. I only wish I could have taken better quality photos to do her work the justice it deserves. The store was quite interesting, as well. I am sure that my friend from Cornwall who I went there with has since...

in response to Sawblade Art

Chris Erb: Growing up in a rural town in New Brunswick, I saw all kinds of this stuff. My dad actually has a giant saw blade in his house with an image quite simular to this one except that it has a black background.

in response to Sawblade Art

Chris Erb: These photos are great. I almost feel like I'm there.

in response to Sidewalk Shots from the Shadows

in response to Swans at Night

Peter: i love this photo. i noticed the window/bars/shadow and asked sine to snap it. to me, it looked like a big, steel flightless box-kite. or an optical illusion... extended out or distended in?

in response to Shadowbox

jack: beautiful pic. how were the mosquitos.

in response to Swans at Night

jack: this is definitely an artists delight and an architects mathematical slant.

in response to Shadowbox

jack: great photos. i love the way shadows of the trees fall on the buildings.

in response to Sidewalk Shots from the Shadows

jack: then what the hell have i been smoking!

in response to End Gender

Melissa: Karen is my mother and I just so happend to google her name and found your article. I really liked that piece and it seems so peaceful. Your pictures are so nice to find on line, it really makes me miss home.

in response to Sawblade Art

Chris Erb: Also, when I was in this part of town, I had to go to the bank. As I was going out the door, I walked right into a pane of glass beside the door and hit my head. The security guard looked asounded by my stupidity and asked...

in response to NDG

Tamara: Jack: it's not a 'pot' plant, the leaves look very different.

in response to End Gender

jack: is that a 'pot' plant in the first pic? i have no comment on homosexuality. i definitely do not like the way drag queens and weirdos portray the gay community. i'm from a different time and space on this planet. a time when women were home tending...

joey: One of America's best kept secrets! La Junta is a growing city on the High Plains of scenic Southeast Colorado. Located strategically on the historic Santa Fe Trail.
