Previous Day :: Next Daysteve: England and the US have much in common. One thing being they want the world to know there are "dangerous regimes" out there intent on obtaining nukes : The Uk and the US most definetely have nukes. And no one knows that better than the citizens of Afghanistan, and Iraq, and... sine: then the columbia crew team can haul the floater back to the docks. Chris Erb: This sign is as good as a television! jamie: there's that, and the fact that flying the british/english national flags is generally discouraged due to it synonomity(?) with white supremacy/racist bigotry thanks to the likes of fascist organisations like the British National Party. robert : Little Ukraine & Peter:
I'm painting the building, Achrylic on canvas, 1.30 x 1.50, since february
I only regret I didn't have a look at these photos before,. hey're great. little ukraine: FYI for the interested - I saw a sign today advertising a rally on July 16, 2pm, at Grand Army Plaza, wrt the Ratner skyscraper. ksedge: i just moved here and the first thing i said when i went downtown was, "where is everyone?" the downtown core felt completely empty and emotionless. i soon found out that everyone just walks through the +15's from building to building. if you go inside and walk through the skyways... Andrew: I think it goes back to the times when the 'country' had various power blocks (robber barons) and local flags were seen to encourage that, so all flag-flying was banned unless offically sanctioned by a licence. So generally you'll only see British flags on government buildings. But there may be... Peter: do you have to pay a fare to go on these walkways? EvilGentleman: Winnipeg has the same sort of inner-city interconnected retail walkway network. You can go quite a ways, even including the main branch of the city library. All quite interesting, but I can't help but notice that it has had the effect of putting the middle and upper classes indoors, while... Chris Erb: In the discussion section on Wikipedia (which is where I got the above quotation I should add) many people were talking about how some streets with +15 are quite desolute where other streets without the walkway have much more activity.
In Saint John, New Brunswick, there is a walk way in... Peter: i was gonna mention something similar. ksedge, do you find that there are fewer people on street-level because of these pedestrian walkways? i was wondering... it seems like that might be the case, but then again, perhaps that would be tantamount to saying that there were fewer people on the... Chris Erb: Why do you need a permit and license just to fly a flag? Chris Erb: Although there are currently no plans to remove bridges or to discontinue building new ones, the system has received some criticism and controversy in recent years. The system has been blamed for being a potential causitive agent for the decreased street life in the Downtown Commercial Core.[2] Street life is... Andrew: Well, being a Brit living in TO, I concur with James and would add that, in the UK, you need a permit to put up a flag pole and you need a licence to fly a flag - which is why you don't see too many compared with over the... Peter: jpgs! Peter: HAHAHA lol. Eli: Did you also notice that the bodaga across the street has "CRIP" as it's store name now? It used to be prescription, and then, funny, on one day all of the other letters must have fallen off..... jack: the last time i streched i knocked down a wall. but it is good to stretch. i stretch my legs every morning when i get out of bed, by letting my feet hit the floor first. then i stretch my arms when i reach for the coffee... jeeff: if you're a kerouac fan i'd say ditch the town and hit the open road. jeeff: this photo has a very painterly quality. i likey. elaine: the bird feeding has finally come to an end. the greenfinches continued to feed their little faces long after the insectivores had gone elsewhere for their dinner. however, recently the pigeons have discovered me, and the feeding had to stop. pigeons are especially revolting close up, they have RED EYES.... EvilGentleman: I just passed the ant joke to my kids, we're all laughing now. EvilGentleman: I think I'm wearing the same shorts today. EvilGentleman: Well, what are they gonna do, call 911? It's not like they can bring the guy back to life. The transit cops will find him sooner or later. Picture the cops interviewing the commuter (let's use the anonymous name of X) who calls 911:
Cop: How did you find him?
X: Like... elaine: tee hee! thom: perhaps, but theres a free murderer in the equation you know Peter: the color combination in that first shot... more delicions than their pizza. Peter: it looks like that seahorse on the left is kissing your big toe... jamie: he wasn't getting any deader, was he. Bayer: Staten Island also had a large german presence. After the World War, many of staten Island's german neighborhoods were renamed anglican names; including streets such as victory Boulevard. Also, two skinheads pulled up to our car at a red light at an intersection in New Springsville and saluted us with... jack: i love that game. Chris Erb: That just astounds me! There's a dead guy sitting in a train with a pool of blood and all everyone can worry is being late for work? Peter: nice, jack! that second photo is just short of picturing the building i work in. thanks- i love aerial shots! bonz: No Greg, it's Newark, an even better excuse! From one of the most corrupt states in the union, how could anyone be surprised? elaine: lovin them bots. Peter: ...like he said, no one wanted to be late for work ;) van seat: i'm not discarded, just tired an emotional... elaine: it's got a great expression on it's face Greg: Its New York, that's how. jamie: "I want to swallow Peterborough whole, wrap myself, innit, like a tin-foil blanket, absorb its heat" - quote of the week!
unfortunately i don't live in peterborough anymore. my mum does though. and my nan. i'll give them your number, they'll whisk you off to ferry meadows for a wild day... Catherine Penfold-Waxman: Very clear aerial pictures! They must have just washed the windows.
(I had a good laugh at the ants joke too. Thanks.) TheTruth: Yeah, Bushwick was raped. Your metaphor is better, Dave. Bushwick was hustled, pimped, beaten, raped, and left for dead.
Now Bushwick is getting the bum-rush. The predatory loan-sharks are stealing houses out from under many old-timers. It's high crime, man, and there's no cops on duty to... lauren in mormon gilbert :(: thats cool.... drive it through this town and they'll probably throw books of mormon on you haha
cool though ksedge: never heard of this "robot building" thing before. now i'm on the lookout...
and peter, yes, hooray for vespas! i see them all the time, i'll keep my eyes peeled for good ones. i have a spot in my heart for them.
ksedge: it sure looks like it doesn't it? it's actually two different groups of girls. the first photo is a group waiting for the bus when i was walking into town and the last two were another group as i was walking back home. i think the first group saw me... Chris Erb: How can a dead guy be sitting in a train and not one single person reports it?? carolita: wow, memories! when I used to take the path train to parson's on 13th street from penn station (because it was 25 cents cheaper than the subway, and I needed that quarter for my coffee!), I once got on the train only to find a dead man and a... EvilGentleman: Welcome to Canada: The Land of the Ridiculous Justice System
Fact is, the cops took a while before they really had a decent idea who it was they were looking for. Also, much as I hate to put it this way, the victim was black, and the attacker was white. Therefore,... shuggy: I stay just outside glasgow(barrhead)and if you are looking for somewhere to go in scotland i can safely tell you don't come to glasgow to many junkies n neds Previous Day :: Next Day |
