Previous Day :: Next DayGGP: got this by entering "atlantic mussels" on google images--i saw the threads and all...but who knew i was walking on a "gut"??
Atlantic Ribbed Mussel (Geukensia demissa)
You'll most likely find these edible dark brown mussels projecting from the mud along marsh creeks (guts) and often among the marsh grass. Their shells... GGP: yeah, i see what you mean, elaine...although i think there are lots of different types of mussels. but i admit, i'm no bivalve expert. ;) elaine: poor jesus. Elicar: Good grief people! That is JESUS, as in HESUS en Espanol! His mother sent him to the corner store to buy chili for her hot burrito and he got lost. So, la mamasita is posting that sign all over Texas!
Comprendes? elaine: welcome to pedant's corner, jack! elaine: busted! i am jesus, after all. elaine: mm, either i haven't been looking properly or they look different to mussels here, the ribs on the outside threw me. GGP: evoking Alice in Wonderland, of course...but somehow brings to mind Yoko Ono's all-white chess sets as well. hard not to envision the chess pieces moving the people around. GGP: i never saw these before--great tangle between good and evil in that first shot. grange: Elaine , theres a message on a lamp post for you? Call home ! grange: cool jack: yeah, i even had a red jacket like dean. grange: my fave is # 2 .. nice work grange: Rebel without a cause there Jack ,old bean ? jack: correction- thats tattered not tettered. grange: jack , can he tell me where my car keys are ?
Be well
jack: what a word!!!!! pedantic, i never in my life would i think that anyone would consider me pedant. why i was the most likely to be expelled student in school. i excelled only in lunch room. i always thought of myself as a rebel, un-diciplined. ... GGP:
elaine: those are mussels.

Peter: wow, youre recent series of frozen nature has been going great! i lvoe these shots. especially the 4th one. it looks like an ironically frozen mangrove marsh... or perhaps hibernating tube-worms or something. wonderful! Peter: definintely cool! elaine: hahahahaha, *yeah* GGP: one more, in passing
elaine: nice notion GGP: THAT ROCKS! GGP: evilG's description of isolation & longing at the sight of the airplane makes me think of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues"--the prisoner who watches the train go by from his prison cell and thinks:
"I bet there's rich folks eatin' in a fancy dining car--
They're probably drinkin' coffee and smokin' big... grange: lol... darling I luv ya anyways elaine: crikey. the trouble i cause! grange: Thanks for the link Elaine .good reading .Oh and the picture is very cool grange: awww elaine . (and believing me to be so sweet, as well) elaine: whoops, that was me, but my puter thinks i'm jesus! jesus: as well as general etymology i am interested in place names, and london is so old and the place names can be so historically knotted that it is not always possible to undo to a point of resolution, but the poetic is fascinating and the stories are all part of... Elicar: Why thank you Jack! I have always enjoyed your little stories. I am eagerly awaiting to see the world thru your eyes via your pictures. EvilGentleman: Thank you for your insight and your sharing. When I look back and reflect upon my time spent in the remote nothern areas of this country, I find that I generally loved it, but sometimes the feeling of isolation and the feeling that I was considered to be foreign to... PaulHF: In the Bible, second Corinthians 13, verse 5 states that unless Jesus is in us we are not Christians. Is He at home in you? "He that believeth in me shall never die" He said. jack: is that a philadelia girl? remember, south pacific, ... jack: to the sea. i love sailing ships. nice photos. EvilGentleman: Ooooh, now I get it... Sorry, I did not understand the first time around there. The trains were cargo trains. The strip of lights you see that look like passenger windows are in actuality windows on the hangar door behind the train, as Dorval International Airport is the background. However,... latinking5poping 6dropping: latin king ever day i throw up the crown and throw down the forks and pray for all the king we stand for asre race and show them nigs and whites what it is realy about this time it goon to be the gold on top and blue on the... 360 King up with the 5 down with the 6 : Its a kings world today tomorrow and the day after that so get used to it. Peter: thats a fascinating link, elaine... EvilGentleman: 36 - passing pickup trucks with extra-wide snowplow blades attached to the front. EvilGentleman: 35 - The dreaded "double trouble" speed trap, where one police car sits in plain sight to make most drivers slow down, and a second car hides a mile or two down the road to nab people as they resume speed after passing the obvious speed trap. Elicar: Funny Joey, as in funny HAHA!
