Graf Trux 20: Philadelphia

Philly joins the Graf Trux gallery! Here's one I spotted in East Kensington.

Tight stencil at 2nd and Poplar in Northern Liberties.

A Stabbing in Akasaka

author: serlingrod : Tokyo, Japan

image 22672
This was the scene outside my building one morning in Akasaka. Any other day there'd be scooters zipping up and down this hill, vendors selling bento boxes, and pedestrians slowly meandering their way to any given destination. For a country such as Japan where instances of violence are much more rare than other parts of the world, this was a pretty big deal.

Frankford Avenue ArtRacks

author: serlingrod : Philadelphia, PA

Walk along Frankford Avenue in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia and you'll find several interesting bike racks created by local artists. The ArtRacks project was started several years ago by the New Kensington Community Development Corporation to promote local artists, biking, and local businesses. 19th Century Bike Rack @ Eagle One Credit Union, Frankford and Susquehanna Chair Rack at The Garden Center, Frankford and Berks Truck Parts Rack @ The Bicycle Stable, Frankford and Belgrade Bicycle Icon Rack @ Johnny Brenda's, Frankford and Girard Chain Ring Rack @ Palmer Park, Frankford and Palmer Fish Rack @ Circle Thrift, Frankford and Norris. This one was...

Sit and Reflect

I spotted these mirror beds on a patch of open space along Avenue du Mont-Royal in the Plateau. Nobody was sitting on them, and the mirrors were covered in fingerprints.

Your Constitution? My Toilet Paper!

author: serlingrod : Philadelphia, PA

image 22108
Our blunder-in chief Bush came to Philly today. I had a meeting one block away from where he was, so I thought I'd check out the scene. The streets were lined with protestors, which of course I'm sure he never saw. Hey Bush, forget the f-ing Marriott! Why not trying giving a speech in North Philly and see what happens....

Don't Drink the Sake

author: serlingrod : Kyoto, Japan

image 22010
Not sure if I'd be willing to try the cuisine at this restaurant in Kyoto, which has a human-sized woodland creature with bowling-bowl sized testicles greeting you at the entrance.
