The first week of June, I saw this display outside of the Canadian Centre For Architecture on Rene Levesque Boulevard. I have no idea what it is supposed to signify, but it sure caught my attention. Weird.
Anybody have any ideas what all this stuff is supposed to mean?

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to eat chicken from Yre's BBQ, a Haitian restaurant with a unique way of using charcoal to cook chicken. I am not sure exactly how they do it, but I have never had chicken like this before. They have no seating inside, so all business is take-out. While I waited for my chicken to be ready, I went outside and took some pictures.
This is Yre's, an Ottawa landmark if ever there was one. Say, what is that notice on the wall?
The bastards! They want to tear down these small family-run businesses so...

Here are some more embassies and consulates:
SRI LANKA
Sri Lankan flag
This stone carving was one of a set of identical markers on either side of the gate leading to the Sri Lankan embassy.
The plaque on the wall is too corroded to read easily, but it says "Embassy of the Republic of Sri Lanka" or something like that.
MOROCCO
Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco
BURKINA FASO
Ambassade de Burkina Faso, Chancellerie (Embassy of Burkina Faso, Chancellery) Note the coat of arms as well.
TANZANIA
Tanzanian High Commission
Tanzanian flag
High Commissioner for Tanzania
ALGERIA
Embassy of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria
Crest on gate of Algerian embassy

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to watch a little sailboat race on the Ottawa River. The participants are in it only for the fun, and it was an interesting way to spend an afternoon.

The recent roadwork on Sainte-Catherine Street to remove the streetcar rails had some interesting side effects.
At the corner of Sainte-Catherine and Guy, the concrete crosswalks were replaced. When they pulled up the old concrete, it became apparent that there had been garbage on the ground when the concrete was originally poured. This garbage was now trapped on the underside of the upturned concrete slab, effectively creating a junk-food time capsule to circa 1982.
The Hostess potato chip bag was the most familiar item of the set, even though I have not seen the Hostess name for years now (not counting cupcakes)....

Sea ice, wind and tides worked together to sculpt this natural ice formation that looks like a goose taking off. Taken July 15, 2005 in Kangirsujuaq.
