Lost
Susie wakes up, once again not knowing where she is. Her head pounds as if a drummer has taken up residence in her brain, each beat of her heart causing another painful drumbeat. She looks across the filthy bed, sees a stranger with a smile on his scarred face, his matted and unkempt hair dangling. She shudders involuntarily as she notices the needle marks in his arm. She looks among the scattered detritus of the previous night, bottles of vodka and beer, hoping to find one that is not completely empty, so that she may chase away the drumbeats once... author: EvilGentleman : Montreal, QC
Some buildings have quite the history attached to them. Such is the case with the historic Sun Life Building in Montreal, which dominated the Montreal skyline from the 1930's to the 1960's but is now dwarfed by its neighbours.
Some of the history is available here Sun Life Building and here web link. Most notable about the building's history is how its vaults were used to store the wealth of many European nations during World War II, particularly the United Kingdom. Long believed to be among the items stored in the cavernous vaults of the third sub-basement were the British Crown Jewels....

When I first noticed these signs on vans parked in front of a building on Cote-de-Liesse Road a few weeks ago, I figured they were related some sort of strike. I have no idea how long the signs may have been there before I noticed them.
Last week, I finally drove close enough to read the signs, and was quite surprised to discover that the signs belonged to the owner, not some disgruntled employees. Apparently, there was a major contract dispute between Montreal-based Celluland, which has been a major cellular dealership company for over 20 years, and Toronto-based telecommunications giant {Rogers...

The CGI building looks awesome when the sun reflects off of the building at 1250 Rene-Levesque onto it.
The sun reflects onto the Sun Life Building (left) and the Mansfield Athletic Club (the ex-Loews Theater)

The BCBG Maxazria store across from Ogilvy's on Sainte-Catherine downtown is quite noticeable, due to the high contrast of the old stone facade being accented with bright red awnings. I must say, I like the look of the building this way. It looks sort of European somehow.

Ah, the memories of my Gen-X childhood come flashing back in an instant when I step into an arcade. Pac-Man, Centipede, Frogger, Galaxian, Donkey Kong, Gyruss, Zaxxon, Pole Position 2, 1942, the countless pinball games like 8-Ball Deluxe and Haunted House. Those games are here no more, but their spirit lives on. No longer packed to capacity like in their 1980's heyday, some of the arcades still soldier on, with games that are much higher on the evolutionary scale than the primitive games we loved so much. Some say that arcades are now the last of a dying breed, but...

Just some plain old garbage I saw overflowing out of the garbage can and onto the sidewalk on Atwater Street in front of the Lionel-Groulx Metro station while I was waiting for the 211 bus.
The fact that this can happen is a normal fact of life, but when I really think about it, why? Really, think about it! Are the city workers or garbagemen inefficient? Are there too few garbage cans for such a high-traffic area? Are people just plain old slobs? What are your opinions? Let's hear from you.
