otherwise known as the hiram m. chittenden locks. arrive in ballard. greeted by alien eggs atop a telephone pole. mysterious girl makes a phone call... ...then disappears. a mermaid offers me fish n chips. girl re-appears in the carl s. english jr. gardens. the lock. abstraction of metal, concrete & water. up is to the right. higher water draining into lower water through things. salmon. sculpture. final overview. for better views of the actual lock see the passing of the ocean ranger

 There's a whole sickening slew of a certain type of building on part of Seattle's waterfront. Looking at them, it's hard to tell if actual architects were hired to design them, or if they were designed by someone with a ruler and a few minutes spare time. One thing's for sure, they're solely intended to be big hollow blocks to sit in for the express purpose of looking at the waterfront. It's as if the feature of having a view of Elliot Bay is so fantastic, no thought to any other aspect even need be considered. Aesthetic appeal, for example,...
