Internet Shopping

This is what I think internet shopping should look like. I like this guy's shop window, he has a blatant disregard for the stuff he sells, it's all piled up and is self destructing before our very eyes. An anti consumerist shopping experience. It's so blatantly all worthless rubbish, not even trying to be anything. What he really sells is newspapers and sweets, that kind of thing, and he has jammed all this crap in the window. At the top is a couple of cool looking prayers to deities I am unfamiliar with so I thnk perhaps they are Hindu, and some random adverts for local things and proudly '40% off toys'. If internet shopping was like this you could zoom in and click on the tat you want instead of it all being nicely separate in little boxes. That could be a good thing, and the technology exists for there to be loads of nested conditionalities and swimmy feathered animationy bits to make it even more grubby. Why does internet shopping resemble filling in a tax form? It's clearly not shopping. Mind you, neither is this, not really. Good on him, I say.

heh. there are plenty of stores like that around nyc... on the avenue near where i live, theres a bodega (corner-store) that has had rotting cassavas and squashes in their window for several weeks... yet they still do brisk sales in groceries.

Gowanus Glimpses: Brooklyn Bridges

Some shots from last weekend’s Gowanus Canal Tour with BCUE, led by the very able Daniel Wiley. I suppose that this also serves very well as an addendum to the Bridges of New York City Hamilton Street Bridge The Ninth Street Bridge Smith...
