Landscape >> Urban Surface. The ground plane of the city... an active surface. because it creates opportunity for all of the interactions between the objects, spaces, and forms it either supports or is embedded with.

: landscape is root :
foundation, source, from which humanity emerges. expresses physical origin, the truth that we cannot reach deeper than our creation. it outlives us. begins us. from landscape we aspire. everything above it is our temporal grasping. we are shaped to it, or by it, though we believe we are the shapers. landscape is life. the only thing we have over it is our willingness to die.
with urban surface as a constant, the beauty of human endeavor is its fleeting. ground plane motivates evolution through a culture of urgency: appreciation and competition. like spring, like street art, we breathe, and then are gone. landscape is our buffed wall, the place to begin again.
