jack: 15th May 2008 - 17:33 GMTcostume players, seems very childish, yet with weapons they seem very dangerous, childishly dangerous, they fantasize and become drawings, silly people in a dangerous part of the world, you would think that people in an area of possible war would seek the finer areas of life and become creative instead of playing at fantasy. they should try to help others at freedom and become more a part of their countries freedom. little ukraine: 15th May 2008 - 17:58 GMTi think playing at fantasy is pretty creative. awesome shots, reminds me of I-CON, the northeast's largest sci-fi convention... and high school, reminds me of high school. chiamattt: 15th May 2008 - 21:51 GMTjack, its funny you should say "in an area of possible war" because NO ONE here thinks the DPRK will invade the ROK. It's just not gonna happen. Also, there are NO real guns here. It may be childish, but these are kids (middle - high school) dressing up like their favorite comic book heroes. Thirty years ago, Korea was DIRT POOR. I think its rather nice they have developed enough to be able to dress up and have fun, they spend the rest of their daily lives studying and studying, and then studying some more. These cosplay events are a rare moment they can express themselves, have fun, and be kids. You have such a FOX NEWS view of the world. You comment that one of the people in Hool's photos probably fought in WWII, and now you are telling me, someone who has lived in the ROK for seven years, that im in an area on the brink of war. Why? Stop being so negative! I also think Koreans appreciate freedom more than the average North American. Ooh Baby: 16th May 2008 - 00:00 GMTPolitics aside, there are some really hot girls in some of these photos. eyeofodin: 16th May 2008 - 00:31 GMTLove the photos and such creative costumes! I've done Battle Royale reenactments here in San Francisco with the full on outfits (in the Presidio), and all though it's not a 'cosplay' (kinda though), I am an adult and all others were adults and it doesn't make us any less mature. Lassic: 16th May 2008 - 00:45 GMTThis is the perfect fodder needed to rebuke people who are all "omg all azns are hawt lol"...because very few of them are here.
Peter: 16th May 2008 - 01:41 GMTi bet if you lined up just as many similarly attired americans, itd be a truly ugly scene; so i guess i agree with chiam on this one. also: we should see who can identify as many of these as possible. i recognize the character from 'saw', but thats about it. im particularly curious about the following:
chiamattt: 16th May 2008 - 07:11 GMTOne of them is chucky, and some are from "death note" (which is pretty good, but then gets kinda silly into book 5). The woman you think is hot was simply a goth girl selling dolls she had made. The dude hanging from the tree, ill figure it out. Next time I go shoot the cosplay, i'll ask them who they are and make a note of it. jack: 16th May 2008 - 15:36 GMTok, i stand corrected, i know that they are a studious people and creative, but i guess your correct about some people here thinking that the north is wanting to invade the south, i guess in my youth i remember too much about the korean war and think of it as a vietnam ready to explode, but the people look like they are enjoying themselves and i guess i shouldn't ridicule another country's style of fun. and your correct on the fact that they love their freedom, you see chiamatt, you know more about whats going on in other countries because you are there and know the truth and the people in this country never really get to know the full truth. so i'm happy to hear what you say, makes me feel good about things, i always thought that iraq was a waste of time but i speak to some soldiers who have returned from there and they tell me that many good things are happening compared to the few bad things.
