I'm really loving your cityscape shots; i cant exactly explain why, but the chicago i see in your photos has a very different look that new york city does... despite the fact that theyre made up of very similar (if not identical) elements...

yeah. ive never been to chicago or new york, but these photographs look alot like places near where i live. but they dont. its so strange how that works, yeah?

I'm from wicker park. I lived on wicker park ave for almost all, but 3yrs, of my life. I know live in a small town name Ft Thomas in Kentucky and I can see how different a city really is. I can smell the pollution and hear the violence you can see on any corner in the city. I go there about once a year since I've moved. The funny thing is, reguardless of how I can tell the HUGE difference from where I am now and where I lived, I can honestly say that Chicago, Wicker Park, is the most beautiful place I have ever been. In the fall, when leaves are turning in the air and landing softly on the ground, you can hear beauty in the silence. As you look around and see the fountain, everything seems to be pleasantly silent and you can almost taste how sweet and fresh the breeze is. In the summer, still to this day, I have never seen a child smile as bright and happy as I have watching children play in the fountain on hot days. I use to work at the Wicker Park Community Center, live in that neighborhood. I even attended A N Pritzker elemantary. In all my life, I have never seen an entire neighborhood as friendly and happy as wicker park. I miss it, love it, and hope to see it again soon. Thanks for the memories!

hey-- have you ever seen those UNSCENE maps around wicker park?

Ita: 22nd Nov 2005 - 19:28 GMT

Wicker park not only looks like this but its a very populated place with people and stores but is like no matter what you still see your family roaming around thats what i like about wicker park

I love Wicker and have lived in my home here since 1990. Learn about the SSA tax that will hit Bucktown and Wicker Park. What - you didn't know? Of course not! It's a 5% hike, tied to your equalized assessed value. And it's imposed by the Chamber of Commerce, not the city!!! Check out: www.stopssatax.com

They came to my side of Western...Humboldt Park...but even around here it's being re-gentrified.

My hubby and I are moving to Chicago in August 2006. I've had my eye on Wicker Park, and it seems really similar to the area I lived in KC. It seems too good to be true. Is it really the great deal it seems to be?

I'm writing a book in which the main character lives in Wicker Park. I was wondering if any Wicker Park native could tell me what street(s) the old buildings which have large studio/loft spaces are located. I'm situating another character's loft/office in one of these old buildings, but am at a loss as to which street(s) these famously popular buildings are. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks

I am moving to Chicago in two weeks. Out of all the neighborhoods in Chicago, we have narrowed it down to either Wicker Park or Lincoln Square. Can anyone please tell me any info on either neighborhood, and what the pluses and minuses are of each. Thanks!

To answer Mala's question the Flat Iron Building, which is the main venue for the Around the Coyote Art Festival in Wicker Park has been in it's location for years and still houses many artists and their studios. It's on the corner of North Ave. and Milwaukee Ave. And to answer Anon Wicker Park is closer to downtown, Lincoln Square is nice but farther north and there's only one center to it whereas Wicker Park/Ukranian Village have a few. More energy and shops/restaurants in Wicker Park, Lincoln Square is a little more subdued.
