Race Against Time

here's another in the series of tokyo drawings that i'm doing. this on shows a typical night-time delivery boy. the style of his motorbike is very common in japan. kind of a cross between a scooter and a low cc motorcycle. the post office uses them for mail delivery, painted a bright post office red. the milk crate strapped to the back is an often-used solution for freelance delivery boys. also, the way the helmet rests on the back of his head is a popular style with the younger guys. i believe they think it makes them look badass.

the need to look rough on a rough, utilitarian machine is the same aesthetic that drives alot of bike messengers in nyc too... same sort of vibe, i bet.

weird, the image is small. well, check out my website for a bigger version if you're interested - www.modernhistory.org

Re: race against time

wow, you capture the quintensential Japanese anime look to a T. (well, ok, that might come off poorly) rather I mean, in the same ethos of all my favorate anime's. you work is wonderful! Your attention to detail and realism is to be prased.
