Peter: hel yeah! i love the library floor...

ea: 8th Mar 2005 - 21:06 GMT

those floor inserts are rubber, like the giant puzzle mats under play structures. and the stacks have translucent corrugated plastic panels, as does the ceiling. the whole experience of the space emphasizes its transparency. I felt transparent in it - emptied of my mass, lifted, and thought I just might fall through the cantilievered glass floor to the solidity of concrete street below.

I want to live in this future. I will need a completely new wardrobe. And a face lift. And a haircut. And SHOES. I think retrofuturist shoes, like maybe big platform shoes with stacks in different colours and cut out stars or hearts on the tops. Obviously heavy use of silver. Marvellous!

Peter: i love the photo of the library's innards. cool.
