After decades of sitting empty, decaying on the , is finally getting renovated! The building, pictured in this post from two years ago, was once one of a small chain of restaurants, and has sat, largely abandoned and -covered for many years.

In 2003, it was designated a Historic Landmark, due in no small part, I'm sure, to its lovely terracotta reliefs and architecture. It is now undergoing renovation... I'll be sure to stop by again soon to see how things are progressing...

I went her for this years Mermaid Parade Ball. It was really cool inside--all rough and falling apart. It's quite lovely.

I love that old building! I hope they don't mess it up too much. I took a bunch of photos of it as well the last time I was in New York, about three years back.
