Browsing articles in Pennsylvania - [previous] :: [next]Hello, Brooklyn natives! I've spent all of my 20 years in a boring, white development nestled "safely" in the valleys of Pennsylvania. I recently moved to a city and I live in the heart of town. City life is the only life for me. I do not feel threatened by people because all races, genders, and believers are my brothers and sisters. I plan to move to Brooklyn in a year or so. I work as a caregiver now, but I am saving up money to have a large amount to move to Brooklyn so I'm financially safe. I have no idea how city life works, and I will be moving there with no job. I can use all the advice I need as to the following questions: Which part of Brooklyn is the best for a 20 yr old musician/artist? Is it better to work in Manhattan and live in Brooklyn? Are there any helpful websites which can acquaint me with the area and assist with finding jobs/homes? I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you! BC: 13th Nov 2007 - 04:10 GMTI live in BK, and ill tell you first hand that although the area has gone through some gentrification, it's still not entirely safe. My house had just been broken into last week (again)! I live in Ft. Green and I find that the "natives" (including myself) do not take too kindly to "yuppies" moving into the neighborhoods. Have you considered Queens? Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 13th Nov 2007 - 20:59 GMTI suggest Astoria and parts of Long Island City. Lot's of nice apartments close to the city.
