Newtown Creek: Oily Sunset

Though it seems so postcard-ish, this sunset is enlivened by the fact that its take from above one of the nation's dirtiest waterways, Newtown Creek, the site of the nation's largest oil spill. The 1954 Exxon spill has left 9 million (of an original 17 million) gallons, undulating beneath the neighborhood of Greenpoint.
