Taken out the back of the Canal Street Streetcar. This line was out of service briefly after Katrina hit; it resumed operation downtown three months after the storm, and the rest of the line was running again by early 2006. The Canal Street Line will take you from the CBD up to City Park, approximately 3 miles inland. The cool thing is that the car doesn't turn around when it reaches the end of the line - rather there are gears in the front and back, so the operator just flips the seats around and walks to the opposite end. serlingrod: 23rd Aug 2007 - 14:54 GMTyeah, it's fun sitting in the back with the levers and gauges. I could tell with the way the local kids were behaving that it was the "cool" seat. Comment on this article..[previous] :: [next] |
