Shooting Stars & City Glow

last night and early this morning was the climax of this year's , caused by the earth's passage through debris from the . we decided on short notice to head out of town to see it, so we picked up an autoshare car and drove up highway 400, almost to barrie. we pulled over on the 8th concession road at a patch of gravel with no houses nearby.

the air outside the car was chilly, and it was very dark when the car lights went out. we laid down like dominoes on the pavement and looked up at the stars.

image 22774

the glow from toronto filled the southern sky, but we could still see plenty of meteors. unfortunately my camera didn't capture any.

image 22772

a family of raccoons chirped in a tree nearby and at one point climbed down to investigate.

image 22773

it was surreal to lay there on the road in the dark. at 3:15 we left and drove back toward the bright lights.

I went to the top of here in Montreal to see the meteor shower but due to a thunder storm, the sky was too cloudy to see anything. We did get a good view of the lightening in the distance and we too were greeted by an incredibly tame family of raccoons.

Yo Jeeff, I really like the last picture, great shot!

I am so jealous of your ability to take such good night shots. I want a real camera, too!

Big Man, Little Dog

this pair caught my eye - he was dressed sharply in his navy blue pinstriped suit, walking very fast and very upright, while his little friend just tried to keep up the pace.
