I was in NYC last weekend for the RageAgainstTheMachine concert on Randalls island. Here is a typical tourist picture of Times Square. Since one of the guys we were with never saw NYC and since we really didnt have much time to explore we went to Times Square. I wish I would have more time to go explore Queens, next time...

this is actually a fairly unique shot of times square. most of those touristy shots are in-your-face, straight-up into the jumbotrons and scrolling marquees. I know you probably sat the camera down to steady the shot without the flash, but I like the distance it puts between you and the lights. my gf is from new york and we avoid times square like the plaque.

i meant plague...although we avoid plaque as well.

Hey cinic, next time you should use the citynoise travel guide! Check here first. Actually, I am going to Randall's Island this week to take shots, as its such an odd place, an island of bridge moorings crafted from an east river archipelago.

at one time randalls was an adventurous place, dumps, weird people, but in the 70's they built apartments and a tram and now it's respectable. don't be afraid of times square, i worked at the grand marquois, just dont make too much eye contact with people, but know all the people around you. look at shoes, pants, dresses and when you see them too close just stare them down and call for a police officer, stay in the tourist areas and if you want to wander to the other boroughs make sure you have a city dweller with you, dont ride the subway durring rush hour, unless you enjoy having some dude fondling you or playing with your butt, stay away from men with their raincoats over their arm because if you dont see his hands then they are on your breasts, dont keep your arm over the rail on the seats unless you enjoy some gay guy practising his moves on your arm, there are a lot of don'ts but still nyc is the greatest, just use street smarts, i love the city.
