hasslehoff: 2nd Mar 2005 - 15:52 GMT

reminds me of something i have seen in barcelona (or is it madrid?) some guy has built (is building) his own cathedral out of scrap bricks and bits and bobs and it's like totally awesome and sh*t. my facts are not verified. i will perhaps go google and come back with some proper facts and mybe some lovely photos if i can find what i am looking for.

Peter: totally. id love seeing that, for sure...

hasslehoff: 3rd Mar 2005 - 16:00 GMT

There is an informative article complete with photos of Don Justo's Cathedral here. He is an inspiration.

This is about a block south of South St., around 8th or 9th St; there is a whole series of them by this artist, ranging in scale from flowerpots to sides of buildings to a half-acre lot filled with mosaic and sculpture -- which is currently in danger of being razed and sold. I took these a few weeks ago, just wandering around the little side streets in that area, so I don't remember exactly where it was... I'll try and find it again next time I'm in the area, however.

i spent a day on south street once eating cheese-steaks the whole time, back before i was a vegetarian :)

Re: Mosaic, 19147

Ah south st. last time I was staying with family out in Bryn Mar, I spent every minute I could walking around South st. I so wish I had taken pictures of the murals while I was there.

mixomadness: 20th Mar 2005 - 20:56 GMT

The artist's name is Isaiah Zagar. Basically every mural around philly like that is done by him. His garden on South St may get shut down - help any way y'all can.

Nairi: 9th May 2005 - 04:56 GMT

I went by there today. I took some pics. It's amazing how beautiful it is in person. I was in awe.

There is a movement to preserve his place on south street. If you visit there is an outdoor receptical for donations as well as a sign up form (petition). They are trying to push him out for a commecial site. So be sure to sign and support this artist when you visit.

I am looking for mosic in philadepha on white tiles and mask faces.

Mark: 11th Jun 2007 - 18:45 GMT

I believe this mosaic is on Schell St., which is a very small street that is just east of, and parallel to, 9th St. It's about a half block South of South Street. If I'm correct in identifying it, it is actually September 11th themed.

Philadelphia's mosaic's are amazing and a real treasure. I hope more people come to know about them and help to preserve them!

Nation of Sleepers

The first thing I noticed as a foreigner coming to South Korea is that the people here can fall asleep anywhere, anytime. It wasn't long until I found myself able to do the same. ##Taking photos on the subway and not...
