more . i just got back from a perfect weekend at a rented cottage in central ontario's . cottage country in central ontario includes the kawarthas watershed, haliburton county, muskoka district, and the georgian bay region.

for more details on the phenomenon see wikipedia's Cottage_country

we had wide range of wildlife encounters, from a tame duck to a full-sized black bear who ran across the highway right in front of our car.

image 21537
i was too slow to catch the bear, but the duck was kind enough to pose.

image 21538
my camera's macro setting got a good work-out when i decided to try nature photography. this dragonfly landed on my toe.

image 21539
here two ants are taking down some sort of winged bug. hool knows the name of the victim. i also saw many mayflies being dragged away by the ants, because it's the season for them.

image 21540
further illustrating nature's unforgivingness, our dragonfly friend munches on a smaller insect.

one vessel on a perfect afternoon.

and then night fell.

our rented kitchen.

our neighbours after nightfall.

of course, the campfire.

and finally the drive home.

i've been to these places in my youth; the muskoka district, and the georgian bay region. there are more rocks in killarney on the georgian bay. and a larger area of water. good memories mostly, with a fishy smell. no photographs.

Beautiful. I am counting the weeks until I will be at peace, swimming in Lake Kashagawigamog. Go Haliburton!

Kashagawigamog, that's near Sawyer's Lake. Beautiful, was just there.
