EvilGentleman: 19th May 2007 - 01:36 GMTThis is getting weird... Jamie, when is that upgrade to the website going to be coming online? I think it is sorely needed. Jamie: 19th May 2007 - 15:05 GMTummm... i'm confused. both of you have the same ip address. EG: It's more of a rewrite than an upgrade but i am working on it. Work's been superbusy lately so progress has been slow. You can however expect all the features you've asked for along with much much more including geolocation of posts and rss feeds of comments for each post and feeds of comments both by and on an author. The task of normalizing and migrating what is now a huge amount of data is proving cumbersome... but not impossible. If people are interested in the progress of the project perhaps i'll start issuing some regualr status reports with screenshots and stuff. Unfortunately becuase of the sheer scale of the data restructuring i'm having to develop the new site offline on a copy of the live database. Otherwise the whole thing would be at public alpha release right now for all to see. EvilGentleman: 19th May 2007 - 17:36 GMTJamie: I am starting to drool just thinking about all the improvements. I know it is a lot of work, and I also know that you have a paying job that demands a lot more work, but I just want you to know how much your efforts are appreciated. Citynoise is already a wonderful site, that is why we are all here in the first place. We have you to thank for that. Whatever improvements you make in the next release will also be much appreciated. The fact that we all whine and bitch about everything is actually a compliment of sorts, since it shows that you have helped create a web community that cares about how things are done here. The very fact that you solicit suggestions and feedback is very admirable. Keep up the good work. And yes, any possible updates would be very much appreciated, so long as it does not interfere with your development work. I guess it would depend on your moods, if at some point you are sick of writing code, but feel like writing an update.
