certain neighborhoods are just denser-than-average in free-standing clapboard/shutter-style houses like that, while other areas have more brownstones, etc... im assuming this is most likely or ...

I wonder if its foreclosure. We might well be seeing more of these fresh board ups as the latest wave of predatory lending leaves its wake across the country. Not that it will do much damage in a hot market, but it was this sort of stuff that led to the fires of the 1970's.

Woodbine street, to be exact. Between Central and Evergreen. These blocks are chocked full of such quaint decrepitude. Pay them a visit sometime. You'll find no similar place in the city, I think.
