Cherokee in Benton Park West

- maybetoday - Monday, April 23rd, 2007 : goo

[previous] :: [next]

Benton Park West borders Benton Park on the west, with the dividing line being Jefferson. BPW was built up around the 1860's by Germans as a working-class, residential area. Cherokee Street through Benton Park and BPW is a historic, commercial artery running through the middle of these neighborhoods. Over the years, many Hispanic immigrants have moved into the area, opening several amazing Mexican restaurants, markets, and shops. BPW hasn't received the level of investment that Benton Park has. However, it is a vibrant neighborhood which has come a long way in the last decade.

The old housing stock in St. Louis is so strange. They look like detached rowhouses from different cities planted down along the street. Very neat.

colavitos ghost: i love st. louis!

As a resident of Benton Park West, this shows just a glimpse of the neighborhood. The neighborhood is more then Cherkoee St.

Checkout the article on "Celebrate Your Town", the essay that put Benton Park "West" in as a finalist. The Suburban Journal messed up and used the article about Benton Park West as being written about Benton Park.

Abandoned Vespa

Apparently, someone has abandoned a on a side-street in front of a in ... The limbs of the bushes are actually growing through the handlebars, there's a rusty propane tank sitting on the floorboard and the tires...
