Losing Soup

We lost the best one two years ago, a rich red Szechuan concoction with shredded pork, form Best Wok at Fulton and Lafayette. That was hard. For weeks, I'd find myself going back, checking the shuttered doors to see that, maybe just maybe, it was a renovation or health dept. problem. But it was curtains, steel curtains. And now some boutique. Two years later, its no easier with Egg Roll. Not only was their food a comfort, but the delivery guy, too--who I am sure was probably not documented, but still inspired. I saw this guy learn English over the last year, it seems. Now, up in flames...will they return, I ask, my foodie wondering but one footnote in this big city of constant change.
